Is it wrong that I just don't get Ricky Burns?.

forget who has the best W on their record for a fleeting moment.

You champion the Broner cause, do you listen to the man? Cos when Broner speaks, all he can talk about is Burns. I wouldnt say Broner is obsessed with him, but Broner sees Burns as the big scalp, make no mistake.

We're all well aware that Broner will(barring him being the worst hypejob in history) become world class at LW.
The point is that the logic you're using isn't standing up.You've dismissed all Ricky's opponents as "domestic level" then tried to backtrack, then disparaged Burns based on who he's fought, despite his title resume being superior to Broner's.
If you don't like or rate the guy then fair dooz, but you're basing your theories on logic that is easily shot down.
That's really all it boils down to.I have nothing against you just because you don't rate Ricky Burns.
But I will defend him if he's being unfairly or inaccurately discredited.

You're logic is stupid. You aren't a world class fighter due to the fights your are about to have. Wach is fighting Wlad for WBA, WBO & IBF titles does that mean Wach is a world closing fighter?

I remember the joke figure many had Ricky down as before Katsidis on the General. There were very few of us in Ricky's camp at that time.
It's only fair that some people are just getting it now though.Just the way it goes.
At least there are more acknowledging him now.As I said, even a few of the hardcore Broner fans are giving Ricky some credit.

When did I say i don't rate Ricky Burns? I've said time and time again he is a good fighter! :patsch

I just don't think he is world class yet, we'll soon see though. :good

If Broner beats De Marco (which i believe he wins UD) he will prove to be world class at lightweight. Then I'd like to see Burns vs. Broner for the WBC in Vegas.

I'm not on Broners dick (I can't stand the bloke) nor am I being down on Ricky Burns, I rate him. :good

    Please understand this guys. :good

exactly mate. i dont think ive seen a burns fan say he's going to crack the p4p rankings or become an elite fighter. its not like anyone's saying he's gona smash his way up the divisions! im just exited to see what he can do, he looks very promising because so far he's made it look easy at a solid level and that no one can take away from him, no matter how hard they try to convince themselves or others otherwise!

oh right. So Broner isn't world class at LW then? But he will be if he wins his next fight?

fair play to you PTF my good man for fighting the good fight on the general, thats a place I havent visited for years!

It seems like a lifetime ago now when I told this place Ricky Burns would be a future world champion, but I did, but hes went further than even I could imagine! MIK1000 deserves amention also, we always championed the Rickster back in the day, long before even Billy Nelson got his hands on the Rickster.
I know its blatant self promotion, but hell yeah its deserved:smoke

Burns is definitely world class he has beaten Martinez, Moses and Katsidis and is now a two weight world champ! He's impossible not to like as a person as he is clearly very down to earth and humble and doesn't trash talk or try and give it the big one which really does get tiresome in boxing, particularly as it is usually the fighters that don't deliver that give it all the hype.

As a boxer I'm not a huge fan though. He has skills and he executes a game plan extremely well it's just that the game plan 95% of the time seems to be land some shots and get out of harms way. Whilst that has won him world titles and in fairness he did mix it with Mitchell a bit, it's just not a style I get excited by. Although his power is improving I don't think he'll ever have real KO dynamite and you just always have this feeling that eventually someone will be able to chase him down and land the shots. Have to give him credit for his defence though as no one has actually managed to do it yet in recent times!

It would be great if he went over to America and won a unification, I think Burns would be competitive against any of the top LW's out there who are all over rated themselves, especially Broner. If Ponce De Leon can give him such a hard time then Burns can give him an equally tough test and we all know Broner got a lucky decision that time.

I thought that myself, I have no idea.

Never fought at Lighweight, but is ranked number 2 already!?! Number 3 De Marco, number 1 Vasquez, Burns is at number 4. :-(

You're looking at boxrec rankings :patsch

Broner is not ranked by the Ring at lightweight and therefore the Broner/DeMarco fight will not be for the Ring belt.

well thats good to hear. i'll admit i also doubted burns against kats, thaught he had a chance but would probably get walked down and stopped late! ive never doubted him since. i think the demolition of mitchell changed a few opinions on burns. i noticed a few yanks with big boxing channels on youtube are getting excited about burns. its good to hear the praise, he deserves it.
