I'm not criticizing Martinez, and I think he is a good champion, but what impressive victories does he have that has caused so many people to rate him so high.

I know the Williams knockout was impressive, his win against Kelly Pavlik was ok I guess.

But what else, what I'm I missing?

    His handsome face.

People will try tell you otherwise, but they're not honest with their feelings.

His win over Chavez Jr.was impressive. And so was he win over Sergei Zinzerik.Simply put,he could probably beat every middleweight in the division. Also,he's good enough to take out maywether. But you can certainly make a case that andre ward ranks above martinez pound for pound.

He's a bit of a guilty pleasure to watch, SOC.

Passing Monzon isn't exactly imminent though.

Yeah but most people called Chavez a bum and fake champion before he faced Martinez, now all of a sudden his a great victory for Martinez?

I must admit that I am sold on Martinez... but he is isn't a young man... boxing is a young man's sport. If he's gonna fight people like Mayweather, Alvarez, Ward, etc... he better do it soon.

As for Monzon? I think he is a bit overrated to be honest. All-time great?Yes! ...but not as good as many say he was.

Hard for him to do worse than Top 3-4 ATG @ 160, but I rate the Valdez wins pretty highly. His title reign fulfilled just about every requirement you could ask of a champion, Hook. Of course, back then it was just as prevelant to dominate your natural weight class and take all comers as it was to weight jump and shift through divisions. That's what some of these cats don't grasp about the likes of himself or Hagler. And 160 is drenched in history.

KO2 of Paul Williams, one of the best at the time, was mighty impressive. His close debatable decision loss to Williams is as quality of a defeat as they come. Winning the crown from Pavlik, regardless of rehab stint right before the fight, is a great win. Macklin and Chavez Jr are his next two best, each of a good quality on par with the best P4P in the world. Dzinziruk win was overrated when it happened, now it seems to have settled in right, but taking his 0 is impressive on par with Donaire bringing Narvaez up a division to take his 0. Plus the Cintron Draw/Win showed his skill at 154 by beating the then best or second best in the division.

I rank him #6 "P4P," but could not see him any lower...

Solid answer, as I mentioned, the KO win was impressive, the Pavlik win is a little over rated in my view and a win over Macklin and Chavez shouldn't place #3 in the pound for pound list.
