What has Sergio Martinez really done to impress all of you so much?

He took the pwill fight on short notice, beat both pwill and pavlik when they were both reluctant to fight eachother.

Beating the best available opponents on a consistent basis.

Williams and K-Pav were the two best Mw's when he beat them. Dzindzuruk was a top 3 LMW and unbeaten. Macklin was coming off a robbery to Sturm who was WBA, Chavez was WBC. The worst opponent could be Barker but even he was top 10 ranked and he put up a great fight.

I'd love to see him face Geale, Quillan, Golovkin and Mayweather before retiring.

 

He exceeded the expectations of everyone in 2009-10.

Was supposed to be a routine opponent to fill in the boots for Pavlik against Wiliams, but puts up a FOTY fight in which many believe he should have won. He's then used as a routine opponent for Pavlik, and ends up beating him. And for the rematch with Williams we were all expecting another competitive fight, to which he again proves us wrong by executing a vicious KO in the second.

Sergio is not an ATG yet, but he has mixed it up with the best of them and had some great wins. I view him very similar to Cotto. He fights the best and puts his all into boxing without excuses. How can you now respect a guy like this. Both Cotto and Sergio will make the Hall of Fame someday. They deserve it. I kind of would love to see them fight each other, but stylistically and size favors Sergio. Having those two things in his favor would be too much of an advantage for him.

What u missing? Well first off smart a$$ When Martinez fought Williams in the first fight, he fought him on a short notice but so did williams as well. He fought a much much bigger Pavlik in which not many pick martinez to win but martinez did it. Williams was the favorite to beat Martinez in the rematch especially the rematch was at 157 pound catchweight but nobody expected martinez to ko williams out cold. Martinez beat an undefeated dzin by tko. He beat a bigger barker who was top 10 mw by tko. He beat Macklin who was robbed vs sturm by tko. And after tko lee, alot of people pick chavez jr to beat martinez in which i guess you werent here at that time. And martinez easily beat a 190 pound chavez jr.<<<If you not impress then youre a dumb a$$.
