How can he fight Stevenson until he gets Bute out of the way? The guy has two fights lined up.How many top guys have two fights more or less signed, far less three?
He might have a rematch clause with Bute, but IBF rules state mandatories take precedence over rematches. He has to fight Adonis before he fights Bute or he loses his belt. :deal
Not upset.... just pointed out that you're a bit biased. Still mad from Froch boxing circles around your boy Abraham?
So,(and I'm genuinely asking here) if Froch doesn't fight Stevenson after Mack, the IBF have said he'll be stripped? I thought they wouldn't mind the rematch given that Bute was their last holder before he went in with a quality opponent.
Yes He will duck Him, The name Adonis is not near of Froch already full schedule, after His tune up in December, He will fight Bute and if He manage to win another rematch is scheduled with kessler for the wba regular belt. So yes He will give the ibf belt. Adonis is already 35 so a win over him will do nothing, because if Adonis loses He will not have another shot again.
Stevenson is for sure a badass (saw him KO Savage in half of the 1st round on the Mayweather/Ortiz undercard), but at the age of 35 and with the weak resume he does have, I find him overrated on ranking and H2H ability with the other top guys at 168. 35 years old is no joke, and especially not when the best guys you've beaten are Don George, Jesus Gonzalez, and Aaron Pryor Jr.
Apart from the first sentence, that was a good post. But surely following the logic of your theory you would agree it wouldn't be "ducking"?
audley harrison is still probably the mandatary of one the 100+ boxing titles so someone is quite obviously ducking him aswell
I say yes, but only because Stevenson doesn't represent that much value to him at this point in his career, after the Mack fight. - Money wise - Legacy wise After Mack & Bute (Big money fight), watch him do everything possible to secure a Kessler rematch !! That's where the money and the enhanced legacy is at. At 35, that's all he's now aiming for...
Do you really think a single title has that much importance to him now ? Money talks before the title, and besides a Kessler fight, a Bute rematch is what will bring him the most money at this point.
Hearn is trying to get the IBF to postpone the enforcement of Stevenson as a mandatory in order for the Bute fight to be for the belt. However, as I said, IBF rules state that mandatory challengers trump rematches. So, if the IBF don't agree to Froch fighting Bute, then he will be stripped and Adonis will fight for the vacant title. If the IBF do agree to sanction the Froch-Bute fight, a Froch win would mean he would have to fight Stevenson next. In all likelihood Froch would either drop the belt, or seek out a unification with Ward or Kessler. Which begs the question: Would the IBF once again postpone the enforcement of a mandatory in order to make way for a unification with WBA "super" and WBC champ Andre Ward, or the winner of Kessler-Magee, which will be for the "regular" WBA belt, if I'm not mistaken? (I'm honestly asking this as well; I don't know how unifications fit into the hierarchy of importance for the IBF.) Just some things to consider...We could end up seeing Bute-Froch rematch for some useless ABC trinket, if Froch is indeed stripped. :yep
