http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427636 According to a very reliable source with inside access to the Cotto camp Cotto and GGG spared.... As you could expect...they are the haters already stading that "GGG" is overated just because he was being consistantly tagged by Cotto. If it was some other "favorite" they would be all over thier nuts! Looking foward to the development of this story!!! #warcotto GUERRA MIGUEL!
Wouldn't surprise me if Cotto's been controlling him with jabs. But it's just sparring. Rumours are bound to be exaggerated.
Cotto is a very accurate fighter. GGG is not hard to find, so I can see Cotto easily getting the better of him.
Gee, what a surprise. A highly experienced fighter who has fought at an elite level is outclassing someone who's unproven. C'mon, people. I am a big fan of GG and I think someday he'll get to where he wants to be. But there's nothing that convinced me he is already a top P4P fighter. Am I supposed to believe all those rumors about him knocking out HW fighters in sparring sessions? Please.
It is interesting in this case since a large part of Golovkin's current reputation/hype is based on such stories.
True. It's like Rigondeaux and his amateur career. It can assist in giving one an opinion, but it is entirely different from professional sanctioned boxing.
**** off Nonito, find some balls and fight Rigo :deal btw this isn't a thread about that, your vagina is showing.
Haters will hate not matter what! Most of people were saying that GGG was going to destroy Cotto...including knumnuts # 1 Slyk or whateverdafug his user name is:
"Haters"? Massive Cotto fan here. But sparring is just sparring. Sparring is there to work on things 99% of the time. You get the odd spar were you go full pelt to get used to fight night intensity, but other than that, boxers will not be going 100%. Obviously they will want to get the better of their sparring partner, but it still won't be full intensity. Something else also routinely ignored in these sparring stories is, training camps are there for boxers to peak on fight night, so it will be very rare that a boxer will be at their very best during a sparring session. Obviously they have good and bad days, but it just highlights that it is just sparring. Someone has gotten the better of me in sparring before, I've went on to beat them in the ring. Sparring stories can be great for camp morale, but that's about it.
Cotto is a world class boxer who gave Floyd a tough fight , I don't understand why people thought that somehow "triple G" will "drop" Cotto in sparringatsch After this fight ( Cotto vs Trout ) i hope we will see Martinez vs Cotto :yep
I know its just sparring but from a few reports GGG sparked canelo a few times when canelo was a bit younger. It just gives you an idea of how he spars. From what it sounds like he had trouble catching cot to who stayed behind his jab and used footwork to avoid getting hit with a good shot.
we all know that sparrings are for work something technically / prepare for your next fight etc but even an usual sparring session gives u an idea about whos the better fighter ! :yep
