The IBF should follow their own rules. They're the only governing body that does.

Stevenson is the mandatory challenger and he deserves the shot at the title.

Bute on the other hand deserves the right to have a rematch against Froch because Froch signed a rematch clause in the contract to get Bute to come to fight him in Nottingham in the first place, when it could have gone to purses.

So I think, if both Bute and Froch win their next fight, they should fight, with no belt on the line.

At this stage of their careers, it's not about belts anyway. On the other hand, a title shot would mean very much to Stevenson.

    Right?

Obviously, if Bute and Froch both agree Froch should fight his mandatory challenger first, I'd have no problems with that either.

I've started to think this might be the right thing to do.It would send out a good message because you have people like Olesegun waiting years as mandatories without getting a shot.
Wouldn't do Bute any harm to have to get another confidence builder in anyway.

Nah, Bute doesn't need another confidence builder. He's 30-1. He's no prospect.

This is it for Bute. He's got maybe 6 fights left in him. He needs to make them count.

It will be interesting to see how Eddie Hearn deals with this. His fighter Kell Brook is mandatory for Devon Alexander's IBF title.

I don't fancy the idea of waiting more than 1 fight for a Bute rematch. I also don't like the idea of being a chance of Froch getting stripped of his IBF belt the only thing I imagine forces him into a rematch with Lucian.

I'm only saying it wouldn't be the end of the world if he got another fight in mate.Still think he needs a real confidence boosting performance whether it's one fight or two.

But you're right, neither are spring chickens although if it was any other fighters involved,we'd be saying this was a great move by the IBF(how weird does that sound?!)

I don't think Froch will fight him. He frequently talks how he's only got a couple years left in the game and after the Yusuf Mack time killer of a fight he's not going to want to then box a (19-1-0) Mandatory who no one knows. Froch has always looked for the big fights and if he gets stripped in the process then so what at this stage.

Froch won't fight Stevenson, no. But Stevenson deserves a crack at the title.

Froch'll fight Bute with no belt on the line because that's where the $,$$$,$$$ is.

This fight better happen in spring though.:nono

I can't see why the Bute fight wouldn't happen. Froch's team probably look at it as easy money after the last bout.

Best risk/reward for Froch ever? Probably, except legacy-wise.

I'd rather see him fight his mandatory then a needless rematch with Bute.

Okay, explain to me the necessity of fighting a guy you recently demolished in 5 non-competitive rounds? Who is actually demanding to see this?

Maybe Pute should've fought Stevenson and not Grachev.

He owes him , like for coming out of his hometown as a champion just to satisfy Froch and his fans desire to fight at home in Nottingham City.
I as a Bute fan am demanding to see it. And as my guy gone out of his way to travel on the challenger's turf, Froch and you should accept that you owe me the same thing now.
