Jeff, not expecting you to name names or go into great detail obviously, but being a pro for so long, you must have some stories to tell? How common is doping in the sport? Do people just decide to take a chance because they feel they won't be tested or do they feel they can beat the tests? and how difficult is it to avoid? Say if I was a young impressionable pro, would I feel under pressure to do it myself? Like is it all around you?

Here was me thinking the BBBofC did everything in their power to root out cheats and even encouraged their Refs to implement "British Stoppages" to further safeguard fighters

 

I can't tell you how easy it is to beat. Every steroid has a half life or a limit to its traceability ... Once this expires away you go. There is zero chance of tracing anything in your bloods or urine.

I'm not totally knowledgable about the subject but I have to be aware of it in my non boxing profession. In terms of benefits they really are so many. Increased endurance, increased power, increased punch resistance, increased recovery time from sessions meaning you can train harder more frequently. This is all due to Increased testosterone that can quite easily fall very low when someone is training continually.

My mate is an MMA fighter and he hammers the shite out of it. Probably at terrible cost of his future but that's his choice. I don't agree with it and would never under any circumstances fight under the effects myself. What's the point?

VADA testing is expensive and not every fighter can afford it, only the top level fighters could afford it.

Ward wanted it for the Froch fight and then decided against it after learning how much it would cost.

 

I think the point about athletes being able to able to get round testing is very valid. I don't think there has been many if any convictions for the use of peds in sport. Perhaps Lance Armstrong having to pay back his prize money may make some think again. I personally think that we might reach a point within a generation were the use of peds is accepted as part of high level sport.

On the issue of grassing. Why is grassing wrong? There is not and never has been a code of silence among top level criminals. They work in hand in hand with the authorities, giving up names for a blind eye being turned to their activities. We are sold a myth that you don't grass because it is a form of control to limit the little person in his activities. It's how things have worked for years. Just another form of conditioning that allows those in charge, criminal and legal to **** the ordinary joe over.
