it may have been done to death already, but so what. How do you guys see this one playing out. As usual, the only distance, 15 rounds.

Fullmer UD. Awkward and rugged. Awesome fight but Zale is the more straightforward of the two.

Tony Zale MURDERS Gene Fullmer both in their primes...Cerdan murders Fullmer, etc. Fullmer though rugged and strong was a class below Tony Zale who was strong and rugged himself and hit twice as hard...

Love Fullmer for his toughness...but a prime Zale...I think he beats Gene in one hell of a brawl...

Fullmer's awkward, mauling style plays havoc on classic boxing styles and stylists. But Zale, though in possession of some boxing skills, was not a classic boxer who worked in a "disruptable" (is that a word?;)) flow. He was a rugged boxer/puncher who would welcome Gene's rushes much in the same way that Eduardo Lausse welcomed them.

Gene's smacks, clubs and chops would be happily met with Zale's awful body clouts and ripping head shots. It's a great fight with plenty of action, but I see the harder-hitting Zale taking this one. Fullmer's strengths play into Zale's strengths here.

    Zale by UD.

I'm not really passionate enough to argue against that either S-B.

hard to tell but Tony Ayala beats them both as both would wilt under the relentless pressure. Fighting back is just futile as it prolongs the inevitable

Zale would knock Fulmer out cold. Zale hit alot harder and although Fullmer was tough he would get beaten by Zale 10 times out of 10. Zales a class above in every way.

I like Georgie Abrams over Fullmer and Zale ruined Abrams.

Abrams was of course brilliant in his own right.

Come to think of it, my original analysis was poor. I still don't think Zale stops Fullmer.

Again in the minority....I like Fullmer to take a close decision...

flea: pains me to say it but I would take him over graziano as well

P, take my word when I say that if you would pose this thread of a fight between Tony Zale and Gene Fullmer during the time when Fullmer was fighting, Zale would be the overwhelming favorite to beat Fullmer BADLY by the boxing fraternity of the time...Gene Fullmer ,tough and awkward was not thought of as highly during his fighting days as he is on ESB today...Many of Zale's opponents such as Georgie Abrams, Marcel Cerdan
and pre war al Hostak, Billy Soose, Fred Apostoli would have whipped Fullmer handily...
