I kind of agree and kind of don't.

Rigo's quality of opposition has been very good for someone who has only had a dozen pro fights- in spite of the fact that he's one of the most decorated amateurs of all time. The fact that he was able to defeat a pretty solid collection of fringe contenders/prospects, a serious contender in Cordoba, and an undefeated titleholder to win a portion of the 122lb pie is pretty ridiculous, even given that fact that Gold Medalists tend to gain opportunities more quickly than other fighters.

As a point of comparison, consider that Ray Leonard was only just starting to face the likes of Dick Ecklund and Rafael Rodriguez by the time he hit a dozen bouts. Ali was facing George Logan in his 12th pro fight. Rigo's quality of opposition in the first stages of his pro career has been higher than normal, and if one attempts to deny this, they are either being disingenuous or delusional. And, for the most part, he's looked quite good in dispatching the opponents he's faced.

That said, CASH makes a valid point, and that it would probably be better for Rigo to get two or three more victories against legitimate contenders like Frampton or Agbeko or another consensus dangerman type in the 122lb Top 10. A few more credible victories would only whet an appetite for a Donarie-Rigo clash- and would consolidate Rigo's position as the leading contender to the ND's number one position.

Who is saying he has proven he is "great"? Honestly? All the Rigondeaux fans on ESB just want him to be given the chance to prove it against a great fighter (Nonito), and all his haters (ie. Nonito fans) just blab on and on about how he needs to fight someone decent, yadayadayada. He can only fight who Top Rank put in front of him, but this isn't good enough for his haters. Donaire can fight Arce and it's fine, because Arum is making him; but for some reason the same doesn't apply for Rigo. :patsch

My favourite tactic by these haters is when they pull up RING's rankings, arbitrarily pick a guy on the list and DEMAND that Rigo fight him--see the many instances in the past two days where they have said he's not interested in fighting Poon, whose name somehow randomly gets thrown into the equation in these discussions now. Quite out of left field. :rofl:lol::nut

And if we're shitting on Rigo's resume, how about this: Name a fighter who has a better resume, fighting in 2012, with just 11 fights. Name one.

Who the **** has Mathebula fought?
Takalani Ndlovu? He's an absolute nobody. He fought Caballero 3 years ago and went right back to fighting nobodies.
Rico Ramos is better than any win he has, clearly.

and Outside of getting stopped by Arce, who the **** has Vasquez fought?
Teon Kennedy would be one of his top 3 wins and Cordoba probably his best.

  4. Well stop fighting fighter such as Teon Kennedy, and step up to the big boy table.

They are a lot of top fighters in the division, pick one and fight him.

The Mares vs Moreno winner is much more worthy than Rigo and you know it.

  5. Clearly has no clue about the division.

    :deal

  7. Robert Marroquin:roll:

When you going to step up Rigo?

I'm not saying the winner of Mares-Moreno isn't. I would say they are more deserving. But is that fight going to happen? No.

Step up and fight someone? Arum is the one who gives him the opponents. How is it Arum's fault that Rigo fights ESPN fighters? Granted, Teon Kennedy was a fairly late-notice fight, if I recall correctly, and the Marroquin fight almost never happened, but Rigo still fought him after it being in limbo for weeks.

Fighters who need to step up: Deontay Wilder, Canelo, Kell Brook, Denis Boystov, etc.--guys who haven't fought anyone in the top 10, let alone the top 5. And they all have more fights than Rigo. And Rigo has fought more ranked opponents, in one of the more stacked divisions in boxing. :hi:

  10. Kratingdaenggym is far more worthy as well.

Donaire should fight him first before Rigo.

But who is Rigo going to fight in the mean time?

    Another C level fighter?

    No response at all.

Mathebula has not beaten any top 10 guy, but he gets a Donaire fight.

Vasquez Jr. has not beaten any top 10 guy, but he gets a Donaire fight.

    It's hypocrisy.

and I think Donaire will KO him.

Pretty sure Donaire is fighting shot-to-**** former flyweight Jorge Arce. Why are you talking about Poonsawat? :hi:

  13. Ndlovu and Caballero, better than anything on Rigo's record

  14. Because at this point he proved he is a much better fighter than Rigo.

Ndlovu is an aboslute nobody. Ramos is a better fighter, and Ramos is nothing special.

Caballero fight was 3 years ago, and he lost.
