Last time I checked, no one said Byrd was a big puncher. However, the runt Marciano is constantly proclaimed by his delusional fans to be this huge puncher at heavyweight. Meanwhile, back in reality, Marciano couldn't dispose of a bum like Applegate in 10 rounds. As for top 10 ATG, there is no way Marciano is top 10 H2H.

Marciano by round 5. Another ******* poster trying to demean a former champ with ridiculous comparison. Byrd doe snot belong in same conversation as Marciano.

Byrd would give him some problems with his tricky spoiler style but he had a tendency to spend time at the ropes and thats a big problem when facing a guy like Marciano who would hit you anywhere, body, head, arms everything was a target for the Rock, i expect him to wear Byrd down and stop him at around the ninth.

Marciano stops Byrd, out of all the high profile fights that Marciano had; the majority of them were against very skilled fighters who were pretty slick. Byrd was a little larger later in his career but I don't see that mattering to much. Marciano knows how to deal with Byrd and wins.

Roland Lastarza vs Byrd would be very interesting.

It's Moore with more oxygen and fresher legs but less power IMO. A real suitable style for Marciano.

Moore liked his power and didn't mind a brawl. Byrd liked to operate and frustrate his opponents. He would win his rounds. I think Byrd is a harder opponent than many "greater" fighters just due to style.

Still, Marciano would win in the championship rounds.

I don't really know if I agree with your assessment of Moore. In comparison to Byrd, I guess. I think Byrd was more passive than Moore was more inclined to brawl. Moore was up there fighting some bigger guys at HW so I don't think he was messing around at that stage of his career.

I guess he was less resistance to that type of fight. And you're right he trusted his power, Byrd was more of frustrating type. Ultimately, Byrd is too much of a stationary, pocket type fighter to have win out against Marciano IMO.

I would say he might get to round 6 before Rocky finishes him

Marciano wins. Byrds safety first style is overwhelmed by the shear volume of punches coming his way. Rocky by ko in 10. It's a fight between an all time great hwt champion and a contender.

Rocky blockbusters Byrd's brains for maybe 3-4 rounds, until the contender is out cold from Suzie Q. Rocky by KO round 5.

Byrd was a tough, canny guy, I think the early rounds stoppages being touted here are extremely unlikely.

Byrd would get broken down though IMO. Marciano via decision or late stoppage

I am sure that Byrd could give Marciano some problems, but he is exactly the kind of fighter that Marciano specialised in beating.

Byrd was far from average. Stylistically he was one of the more interesting heavyweight contenders.
