I just came across this video because of the Hamed sparring a HW thread : [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WPEQbevQVU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WPEQbevQVU[/ame] I forgot people were talking about Hamed fighting Gatti back then, would have been a hell of a fight. Who do you think would have won if they had fought back in the day?
Hamed fosho, I love Gatti but huge gulf in class. Hamed coulda been an ATG if he didn't ***** out and quit the sport.
Gatti was a considerably bigger guy so that weighs in his favor, but not enough for me to pick him to win.
There is a significant height/reach discrepancy between the two, and on fight night there would also be a big difference in weight. Hamed was a small Featherweight, how comfortable was Gatti making 130lbs? All that said. Hamed would stop him. Too much explosive one-punch power for a guy with a less than stellar defense.
gatti didn't exactly have good defence, so i see naz blasting him out of there in no more than 5 rounds. it would of been a brutal KO.
When you consider that Patterson was able to hurt Gatti at 130, you've got to think that Hamed is capable of putting him down and out. Given Gatti's less than stellar defence, it moves from possibility to probability. It does shape up as being a wild one though, and Hamed may have to get off the canvas to win. The Gatti of 130 was drawn out and not the thick-set muscular guy he was at 140. He lost to Manfredy and struggled with Wilson Rodriguez, and the size difference probably wouldn't be as big as some people think on the night.
I think it would have been competitive, Gatti was a lot bigger than Naz. I think it would have been a question of how well Gatti avoided Naz's shots. If he just went toe to toe with him then he probably would have been stopped. Naz didn't seem to have much interest in making the fight happen.
Gatti would pose the same difficulties of Barrera, a strong guy who could take and could hit and would apply pressure I dont know if Hamed could handle the pace or the aggression of Gatti who wasnt afraid to fight i think he could make Hamed very uncomfortable in there
when you put gatti and barrera in the same sentence, you discredit your post immensely. naz would have no problem with gatti in the slightest. :deal
Barrera was leagues better than Gatti. Even though Gatti had more boxing ability and physical talent than often given credit for, he was still far behind Barrera in the skill department and could not box a disciplined fight like Barrera did anyway. There is NOTHING to take from the Barrera win over Hamed to suggest that Gatti would have the same success.
Gatti would knock the prince out me thinks just to much power for Hamed to handle and out of his weight something Hamed never tried being a small featherweight I can see him being a tad slower with the extra pounds.
