Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told the Latimes.com “[Alvarez] came at me like a pistol,” in stating who he wants to fight on May 4th.

Alvarez wants Mayweather Jr, Cotto or Martinez.

Alvarez won't be fighting until 7 months time. Wants to fight the Big Names.

I'm kind of disappointed with this to be honest....

Personally I think he should have took on a good challenge while waiting for a big name, there was really no reason why he couldn't have fought in December.

Currently I think his resume is a little weak and its only his popularity that will land him a fight with the 3 he mentioned.

I think he's probably just fed up and this is his way of getting what he wants by refusing to make GBP or anyone else any money until he gets what he wants

Personally I don't see alot of those early fights as any different from another fighter having an extensive amateur career.

Chavez Jr has had 49 fights, yet he was outclassed when he stepped up competition.

I don't know If I got it wrong, but why not say May 5?

That's Cinco de Mayo, he wants May 4??? Why?

Plus, Floyd usually fights on May 5.

He' the WBO champion. If Lara wins he will be Canelo's mandatory. He should be stripped if he avoids the fight.

Cinco de Mayo is May 4th in 2013 and also May 5th is a Sunday so he would never fight on a Sunday.

He wants Cinco de Mayo because it is a significant day for Mexicans of which he is one?

    May 4th is a SAT.
Looks like Mayweather has lost his "May" spot unless he he fights Alvarez.

I like Saul Alvarez and think he has alot of potential but I think he should be fighting some of the top guys who's been campaigning at 154 and wants to fight him(Not saying mayweather or cotto doesn't)like Vanes, Lara, Trout, Kirkland or Burndage....Only win of recent i give Alvarez props for is Josesito Lopez even tho he was a 140 prior to the Ortiz fight.....But Good luck to him thats just my honest opinion

    :patsch

The hispanic audience makes up for about 80% of all the PPV revenue in USA, and 100% in Mexico.

The kid is starting to gain recognition, and will for sure be a household name should he just continue to win and assemble names.

He has all the fundamentals of a star, he just needs to use his head and he'll make some major paper.
