His mental issues had to do with mental illness and probably a bit of psychosis, not a lack of mental toughness in the ring. Ike was probably one of the more mentally tough guys out there, when inside the ring. He stood toe to toe with Tua, when he could have won an easier decision by boxing from the outside. You have to be mentally tough to stand in with Tua, chin or no chin, that can't feel good, getting hit like that. In the Byrd fight, he not only showed that he was mentally tough, he showed that he was a thinking boxer, he showed a great ring IQ, setting up the in better shape, faster, slicker opponent for that brutal punch. Look at how he set up that left upper hook that exploded on Turds chin after a few rounds of creating air conditioning. Ibeabuchi wasn't in the best of condition for that fight like I previously mentioned. He didn't give up though. He kept coming and coming. You have to have mental toughness and focus to deal with a guy like that version of Byrd. Especially if you are the slower guy.
i agree with some of the things you say, but he wasn't american, he was nigerian. and he wouldn't have been dominant either... lennox would have knocked him out. he would of beat some very good fighters back then, but he wouldn't have been THE champ. :good
says the moron who's never made even one intelligent post. Apparently you know ****-all about Tua and what he was at the time Ike beat him, and what he became afterwards. Tua was never the same, and neither was Ike for that matter. Tua lost it physically, Ike lost it mentally. One of the most punishing HW fights since Foreman-Lyle.
Ike could do everything Lewis could do with power in BOTH hands, better movement and better combinations. Ike was the next champ, everyone knew it. You DKSAB.
yes I'm ****ing serious, and if you think that's ridiculous then you weren't watching boxing at that time. Lewis got knocked cold by far lesser fighters than Ike.
So, Lewis defeated V.Klitschko, Holyfield, Tyson and many other ring top 10 fighters and world champions, and was undisputed HW champion for a long time, but he is not as good as some African guy who only had 2 top 10 fights and legitimately won only one of them? I think elite HWs would own Ike. If he wouldn't go crazy and ended up in prison, Lewis would KO him, and then Klitchkos would beat him silly. He would probably turn into gateskeeper pretty soon.
Lewis is better than the K brothers, not as good as prime Tyson and imho would lose to prime Ike. I also think Lewis would have lost to that version of Tua, as would either K brother. And, you ****ing moron, Tyson was shot when Lewis beat him. Lewis got STRETCHED by Oliver ****ing McCall and the ordinary Rahman. Yet here you sit, soooooo shocked by even the thought that Ibeabuchi, who would KFTO McCall and Rahman on the same night, would have a prayer against Lewis lol... Lewis was very, very good. Upper echelon of HW champs, but he wasn't bulletproof.
You're an imbecile lol probably one of the dumbest posters here. Ibeabuchi couldn't even land a punch on Byrd until Byrd lost focus and got caught with that uppercut. Ibeabuchi did nothing in his carreer except for landing a lucky uppercut on Byrd. Of course, ******s like you think he's good, but who cares, you're a homo, with that avatar of some gay guy. You probably like Ibeabuchi because of his physique, cause that's how homos are. In your world achievements or skills of boxers don't count, you just think that the most crazy and muscular guy wins and you think that Ike is a GOAT. I'm watching Byrd vs Ibeabuchi right now and Ike looked like a joke until that lucky uppercut he landed on unfocused Byrd. Now, **** off and go and mastrurbate on Ibeagoocci or whatever his name is. Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Klitchkos would all beat the **** out of Ibeabuchi easily. He didn't do anything to prove that he was any good. 1 lucky punch doesn't make him a GOAT. I feel like in a movie Idiocracy where an average guy went into the future where everybody was a ****** and he became the smartest guy on Earth. Stop posting and don't embarrass yourself anymore please.
you know what the best tactic is when someone exposes as an idiot? Call them a homo. It works every time. "Ibeagoocci or whatever his name is." Since you obviously have no idea who or what you're talking about, my question would be... why are you talking at all? Shut up and learn. Better yet, why don't you teach us something. Teach us how David Haye beats Larry Holmes LOL
It wasn't a one sided fight but he beat Tua clearly. Ike's chin was good enough to take Tua's shots, he was big and actually in shape, had good power and decent speed for someone of his size, had great stamina despite having a high workrate which is really impressive if you look at his muscles and could box on the inside AND on the outside. I don't think he would have been the GOAT but he was a very good boxer and had at least a chance against the very best
you're such a moron, bernie! what's it like in your deluded world? after reading that crap you've just written it's a wonder anyone would wish to try and discuss boxing with you. when you claim people don't know what they're talking about, like you just did, it's a sure sign that YOU don't know what the hell you're talking about. :deal so, get back under your bridge, troll.
that was a real close fight between tua and ibeabuchi, nothing was clear either way. think i had it by one point to Ike, but can't remember. yeah, both had great chins with power in their fists. it was a brutal fight. i don't agree however on Ike being able to fight that well at range. he wasn't bad or anything like that, but you could clearly see that he would really struggle with a good outside fighter. he also struggled with fighters who could move really well, like in the byrd fight. but yeah, he was a real handful. he could of made some real noise, but would of fallen short on being at the very top. he would definitely give most fighters at the time a hard nights work, with him winning a lot, but fighters like lewis would of been too much. he'd be kept at range and busted up. i don't see that being that competitive. but we'll never really know, which is a shame.
He fought Tua in his 17th Pro fight, and that was probably the best version of Tua ever, head movement and a high work rate. Some people don't realize, this guy wasn't even close to being a finished product. The hype about Ibeabuchi, was what would have have evolved into, as he got better and better. Taking him as he was, he would probably be the champ right now. He was no where near his peak. Can you even imagine if that was Ibeabuchi in there with Wladimir, instead of Sam Peter? Wladimir proabably wouldn't even be boxing anymore.
