Who should replace Manny Steward on HBO?

Big George makes way too much money outside of boxing to take it seriously. I'm not even sure how good Leonard would be...

Mike Tyson - yes he has a knowledge of boxing history. but this is a job and requires him to be responsible and show up for alot of hours of work, not just pop in on fight night and talk 2 hours. he would be a disaster professionally

George Foreman - he did it for 10 years or more already, he retired, HBO didnt retire him. he isnt ever gonna come back.

Lennox Lewis - Been there done that. he's moved on

Larry Merchant - he is almost 100 ****ing years old and barley can do the few fights he does each year now...

Teddy Atlas - ummm no thanks, he can keep his tough guy act on the small circuit where it belongs

ODLH- can you imagine listening to that voice for 3 hours? and everything he says is over blown times 100. horrible choice

 

Leonard Ellerbe.

 

Foreman or Ray Leonard.

 

Jones already has the job, doesn't he? I'm assuming he still has the job, but Leonard or Foreman would be the other guy they have on occasions.

Nobody can beat Steward though.

 

I would love too see HBO employ less commentary and more ring and crowd noise. That would let the impact of the blows and the atmosphere of the crowd into the viewing experience.

For example, the crowd for Rios/Alvarado was freaking loud, and the blows there were landing were clean smacks and thuds. HBO makes mention of "that's 8000 people making a lot of noise," but you can barely hear us, or the landed punches because three people are talking all the time.

Vin Scully is arguably the greatest baseball voice of all time. His signature? Completely shutting up and turning up the stadium noise during big moments. HBO should learn something from him.

 

Bernard Hopkins. He's articulate, knows a ton about boxing, has the experience to back it up, and wouldn't be afraid to tell Lampley he's wrong (which he is most of the time) and would add a lot to the table.

Except, Bernard would go on rambling about himself, and nonsense in general.

Bernard has his points, but he goes over the top all the time, and is very rarely short and to the point.

Larry Holmes.

Bernard Hopkins.

Brother Nazeem Richardson.

Teddy Atlas is the most qualified for the job position

That would be cool for Teddy being on HBO. I would like to see Teddy broadcast World class fights
