Ok People. Floyd Mayweather vs Pernell Whitaker at 135. My thoughts and yours.

I'd have to agree. However it's not an overwhelming advantage, and Mayweather would win.

 

I think Sweet Pea's show off defense would get him in trouble against someone who had equal speed,nearly as good defense, and the ability to adjust as Mayweather.

for Mayweather,Sweet Pea's workrate would be a problem. If Floyd got down early he would up his workrate. I think Floyds reach advantage would neutralize Sweet Pea's jab.

With that said at 135 I think Whitaker wins UD.

at 140 or 147 Floyd size becomes a factor imo. Id favor him at those weights

the Floyd at 135 is basically the guy from the Castillo fights. I dont see that guy beating Sweet Pea at 135.

My thoughts are that sweet p wins a close decision... 3 reasons being 1) he had an awesome jab 2) throws lots of punches 3) not as susceptible to the straight right as many other southpaws

No hate on Floyd from me I just feel with the above 3 factors points towards an L for Floyd

Both great fighters respect em too.Hate when some of these floydiots or *****s claim their idol is far better than everyone especially Pernell who we all know is the better defensive fighter.Like I said 2 very good boxers but styles makes fights & Whitaker causes more problems to floyd than vice versa.

 

I think this would be an extremely close fight.....I can imagine a 7-5 type decision to whoever the winner is.

I cant be mad at whoever people pick I think there are valid arguments for both.

Plus I dont think the fight would be boring at all, would be very tatical but I would expect great action as both would need to let their hands go!

 

To be honest, Floyd is the sickest 135lbs'er I've seen.

When it's all said and done, it's opinions. Nobody knows the outcome, cause upsets has happened all out the history of boxing. This fight is a toss up, i favor Mayweather at 135 by SD though.

 

What? You don't see Pea getting a later round KO? All jokes aside....Pea wins on points. Floyd is a fighter with a lot of layers to his overall game but he likes to stay in his own bubble....He keeps a cool head and never steps outside of his comfort zone.

Pea on the other hand takes A LOT of risk that offers him a LOT of rewards....with his kind of style that is more instinct than actual orthodox boxing skills, it allows him to take these risks and capitalize where others could not.

Both Floyd and Pea have an overwhelming abundance of talent.....they are both very fast, have cat like reflexes and incorporate a very high level of skill. They have vastly different mentalities and styles which in my opinion would favor the guy who takes more risk...who has more of an "unorthodox" style and is busier.

Floyd likes to lay back...fight on the outside, pick his spots and counter. He can walk opponents down but they would have to be opponents whom he doesn't feel offer the kind of risk that would see him sticking to his typical Floyd "pot shot"..."out point" your opponent kind of fight.

Pea would be the aggressor....but not like JLC or a PAC. He would switch things up a bit....change the script from one of pressure to one where he's patient. Floyd would have a hard time adapting to the ever changing game plan that Pea would incorporate.

I don't think it would be easy for either man but I do give Pea the edge and see him taking this fight at 135. Floyd has trouble with very few things when faced with opponents....but he has shown trouble with applied, intelligent pressure.....a south paw stance and unorthodox punches/styles.
