    He erased his division.

    Guys like Berbick, Thomas and Tubbs would lay waste to those breadline bums Louis called opponents.

    Thomas was the only guy of the 3 that could fight even though he only had a left hand.... Berbick would get no where near top 10 in Joes era...and Thomas was back on smack before the Berbick fight, I knew some guys from his area and he started heavy use again before the Berbick fight...Thomas had a great jab but his fight against Coetzee was a draw or could have went to Gerrie but Coetzee was no Max Baer.....They would merly be bums of the month in Joes era dispite the steriods....Tyson showed you what The Fat boy Tubbs was worth so would Louis....Berbick would also bounce around the ring but Joe Louis finish him quickly

    When they fought the ages were

    Max Schmeling = 33
    Braddock = 32
    Sharkey = 34
    Carnero = No point listing age as everyone knows that story
    Max Baer = 25

    Louis was 23, 24, 25.....even as late as the 1970s 33 was considered way over the hill

    Berbick was a pretty good fighter that could have cracked that top 10 in the thirties.. Perhaps even beaten guys like Braddock and Carnera. He beat prime versions of Page, Thomas and took a peak Holmes 15 rounds.. The man was no slouch.

    It is a magnificent acomplishment.

    It has to be noted that there are not many if any other eras, where there would have been five active former lineal champions to beat.

    Ali missed out ingo, otherwise (like Joe Louis) muhammad also faced all the champions active during his entire career. Marciano also beat all the active champions that he could have. Joe Louis is the tops though.

    Yes, like it or not... no fighter has beat as many Lineal HW Champs as Evander Holyfield (7). He went 8-4-1 (3) vs. Lineal HW Champs. He went 12-5-1 (8KO) vs. other guys that owned belts with the words, "World Champion" on them (IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO belts only). He was 137 years old when many of these fights took place. So, lets add that up... 20-9-2 (11), nothing to sneeze at!
