Goossen/Golden Boy in talks about possible Ward - Sjekloca fight

    Super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0) may have another option if the proposed January 26th fight with Kelly Pavlik falls through, and that option is the WBC #1 ranked Nikola Sjekloca (25-0), current owner of the WBC International title, BoxingAsylum has learned.

    Tom Brown of Goossen-Tutor wrote an email to Sjekloca's manager Luka Popovic about a possible fight between the two. Sjekloca is represented by Golden Boy promotions and the two companies are currently in talks and the result should be known during next week. Dan Goossen said last week that he believes Kelly Pavlik (40-2) is next for Ward, but left open the possibility that the fight might not happen.

    To call Sjekloca a eurobum would be insulting to eurobums. How this guy got to #1 god only knows. Ward is a joke if he takes this fight.

    I didnt see the fight but have heard that Sjekloca looked lucky against the French boxer that James Degale recently beat.

    If Ward is willing to fight this guy in Europe he is then making the fight a bit more interesting

    What the hell? Everything I've read and heard indicates that Arum, Dunkin, Garcia, and Pavlik were all on the same page. They want Ward.

    Just the other day, Goosen said everything looked good. They just needed a venue. Now we get this ****!

    Just because a promoter says a fight is 95% done, its basically as good as 0% done until a contract is signed, sealed, and delivered. These guys posture, deceive, angle, etc. This alleged with Nikola will NOT happen, just smoke presumably to get leverage.

    No doubt he is, but Herschman has people to answer to at HBO. He won't do this one. If they went the euro route they'd be better off going with Stieglitz or someone like that.

    :lol: I'm from Montenegro and if they fought on the moon Ward will still win every second of every round, where this fight happens(if it happens) will have nothing to do with outcome of this fight!

    Fight is in talks but even Sjekloca himself said he doesnt believe it will happen because he is unknown, but he said he will fight for a world title so maybe Ward will vacate his belt or defend it against Sjekloca i dont know, but as i wrote Sjekloca is not optimistic about Ward fight happening.
