Yes, Evander clearly dropped him. The round before he stopped him IIRC.

Hardly a flooring shot, more of a balance shot. 3:25 mark I will say Tyson completely fell apart after getting knocked down.

Wish I could see this fight. Solid reasons why either guy might win. I narrowly favor Foreman, I could see him getting hurt yet winning, more so than Tyson.

You really have to have a good background of both fighters to make a call on this one. Personally I think Foreman could have a very good chance against the mid to late 90's version of Tyson, because Tyson was a completely different fighter. He fought rarely, didnt stay in top shape and his boxing ability was quite amatuerish. He also didnt have that killer will to win. He was really getting by on his speed and power but that was still good enough to stay at the top of the division.

The well schooled disciplined fighter of the mid and late 80's would be handful for any version of George and any fighter in history for that matter. Tyson was a good fighter all the way around, and his ability to beat tall mobile boxers was pretty impressive. You dont see too many supposed brawlers able to jab and box with 6'6 mobile heavyweights. Tyson was really that good back in the day. The post prison Tyson was a meer shell of himself, left with little boxing ability and confidence in his craft.

He seemed to try and relearn the sport a bit once he hooked up with Tommy Brooks. Went back to basics and rebuilt his style with a little different approach in his footwork, but his personal life never allowed him to have that consistent activity to make him able to compete with the active elite fighters like Lewis.

First of all, lets take the Frazier vs Foreman fights out of this equation. Too much weight is being made of George's victories over Frazier in comparison with Tyson.

Frazier wasn't close to his best against Foreman in 73 or Uniondale 76. Futch had him change his style and box George but Joe was really past it after leaving everything in Manilla. In 1973, everyone in Joe's camp, Futch, Durham, Benton, grossly underestimated Foreman as an opponent and Joe paid the price for that. A 68 to 70 conditioned Frazier would give every heavyweight in the history the sport the toughest fight of their career.

Prime 87 - 88 Tyson might make it to the 5th or 6th round against 73 Foreman. Mike's power alone gives him a punchers chance but I'd bet on Foreman stopping him. If they had fought in the 90's on George's comeback trail, I think Mike could outwork George to a 12 round UD win. He might survive a scare or he gets stopped himself if he starts acting like Michael Moorer dropping his hands in front of George.

70's Foreman was a brute. I wouldn't bet on many to take him out.

I'll always feel that George would have stopped Mike within five rounds. It would be great while it lasted though.

Quick Tillis/Mitch Green, Tyson was still a young, green kid who was moving up a class to face experienced journeyman. Most fighters have to go through that experience. Mitch Green had a very good chin actually.

I think your just talking shite to be honest. I dont think youve even watched the bonecrusher fight, if you had, then youd understand why that was by far Tysons worse performance. And Tony Tucker, when his head was screwed on, was a pretty good fighter. Hes the only guy who fought both Lennox and Tyson and was stopped by neither.

Sometimes fights are dull because one fighter refuses to engage and decides running is the best option.

Tyson never even fought Renaldo Snipes? that basically ruins any credibility your post had.

Either man could have knocked the living **** out of the other at any given time, depending on who got the other in trouble first. Let's just leave it at that and call it a thread.

What other fighters took as much punches from Buster Douglas as Mike Tyson did?

No he didnt back off. Tyson clearly won round 5 and he was coming on strong, the commentators stated that Holyfield seemed to be tirin. Then what happens? oh a low blow by holyfield, a headbutt by holyfield and then the knockdown, which was more due poor balance than anything. Tyson hardly backed off, he was more dazed due to Holyfields head. I think its too much of a coincidence that Holyfields low blow and headbutt comes straight after Tysons best round.

Holyfield at it again, 'same technique'

Foreman never fought Lewis, or Bowe, or Holmes, or guys like Ruddock, or Bruno, he was too busy calling out midgets like Holyfield and Tyson and Qawi, or guys with dodgy chins like Moorer and Morrison, i wonder why?

How many of those guys spent 5 years in prison before facing Holyfield and boxed a total of 8 rounds in 5 years? Its clear now why Tyson complained about the headbutts, Holyfield couldnt budge him so he needed to resort to other means. Hence why Holyfield was throwing everything but the kitchen sink in the 11th round and Tyson still finished the fight on his feet

But dont u think its too much of a coincidence that Tyson has his best round and then Holyfield low blows him, head butts him and then a KD comes? I admit Tyson wasnt the same after round 6, but i feel it was due to the butts more than the KD

I always saw the "KD" as a chest hit and more of an off balance shot so I never thought much of it. Like that Tyson said they probably headbutted each other which may be true as both were rule benders.

Azzer, good point with George not facing big guys and wanted no part of Lewis. Even he admitted he had no chance against Lewis at least in the 90's.

As much as I like Mike Tyson, I have heard fans give more excuses for his losses than employees coming up with reasons to take the day off.

    Amen.

And every hypothetical bout goes the way of Seldon or Spinks or Williams. And Ruddock and Douglas and Tucker are fantastic fighters.

But I sure do thank them for those opinions and bellying up to the bar and putting $$$ on mike back then. It got those odds real nice for me.
