Dawson said we can do a catchweight or 168... Ward smirked and said "we'll bring him down to 168" knowing ****ing well he'd have a big advantage in draining him down.
ward is the best at 168, but beating a weaken chad and now fighting kelly pavlik kinda pisses me of. he still a goon, i dont use the phrase bad ass my fault.
Lets not change the direction of our debate before at least answering the question. How did Ward duck Bute?
ward aint duck no bute, he just finnished the super 6 while bute took easy fights. he said let bute fight someone decent and then ill fight him. bute fought froch and the rest is history.bootay is a shity boxer and i was glad when he got exposed.i was tired of people talk about that guy like he was something great.
I think he has alot of potential but he is fighting in a very weak era. His best win is a past best, rusty, unwell double vision suffering fighter who was beaten by an old past best champ from the previous era. Ward could have escaped those shadows if he had of decided to fight undefeated Bute, but Ward didnt want to go near Bute and lost an opportunity. I think there was more to the Dirrell thing tha meets the eye as I read that neither were in training for that fight. Froch is an old slow SMW past his best, and he pushed Ward and had Ward looking tired at the end and was winning the last few rounds. I dont think Froch would have done well in the previois era, as he couldnt get past worst version of Kessler coming in off a loss. The era is not what it was and alot of the current top 10 have not done a thing and its hard to fathom why they are there. Ward has potential but few to show it against. He shouldnt have run from Bute, but could still fight Cleverly. What top undefeated fighter has Ward fought? What undefeated world champ has Ward fought?
This is a ridiculous post. First off this is a very good SMW era. Second, how could he fight Bute with a broken hand? So are you saying clearly beating the guy who destroyed Bute isn't enough to erase these so called "shadows"? Face it, Ward is a top 3 p4p fighter and is already a top 10 all time supermiddleweight.
Could fight an unbeaten Bute, his closest rival at 168lbs in his hometown in Canada, but decides to drain and fight a weak Chad Dawson. Fought all his super 6 fights at home, was frightened to fight away. Will he take Froch on in Nottingham? Yeah he certainly is a bad ass.atsch
I recently watched Ward/Boone, Ward/Miranda, Ward/Abraham, and Ward/Froch, and I drew some conclusions about Ward. Very few people understand how he wins fights. He's definitely not a "Bad Ass." Ward is not lightning fast; his hand speed is 2 notches below Sergio, and at least one notch below JT. His footwork is very good, but it's nowhere near BHop level. In addition, Andre has a small gas tank, and a suspect chin. Ward wins fights by being one smart mother****er! He almost looks like he never fights the same way twice. His approach to a given opponent always seems tailor made for that opponent. Andre also seems to know his limitations. It seems like he is very aware of his stamina issues. He is really good at not fighting when he doesn't want to. He also seems to realize his chin ain't granite. In conclusion: Andre Ward is a brilliant strategist and tactition; he's also one of the most versatile fighters I've ever seen; his hand speed is good, but nowhere near great; his hand-eye coordination is superb; His chin is just above the china category; his stamina is somewhere between poor and not very good; before he runs out of gas, his physical strength is very good. His best weapon is his brain, not his boxing skill.
The best boxer in the game at this moment. I don't see anyone even coming close to beating him, whereas I see some stylistical matchups for the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Nonito Donaire. Andre Ward is just not gonna lose for some time, if at all. And I see he's gone into a different gear, like Nazim Richardson said, we haven't seen the best yet. And I think he's gonna go dog some more people out before he's done.
