That's pretty much what Hunter said. Khan's main problem is the decisions he makes in the ring - particularly when getting hurt. He said it's not so much a case of adding things to his game, but more of a case of removing certain elements/habits that currently land him in trouble, so that he's freed to to nuture and develop assets he already has.

Well, good luck with that. We'll find out for sure the next time he steps in with a puncher.

Because he has too, it's now or never for him. He's even admitted as much. Khan picks up things well enough in camp, it's just that he reverts to fighting like an idiot with his macho bull**** sometimes, when he clearly doesn't have the chin or power to play brawler.

It's obvious he can learn and improve, you don't go from struggling against Micheal Gomez and being decimated by Prescott in less than a round, to beating highly ranked contenders like Maidana, Malignaggi and Judah by sheer luck... but Roach, as good as he is, clearly isn't a defensive minded coach, which after Garcia is exactly what Khan needs right now. I think Hunter can improve Khan in this respect, at least I'm hopeful he can.

Pretty much. Admittedly I'm probably more hopeful about Khan's future than anyone not named Darni

    Hope you're right :good

Even though I'm having doubts as to how much he'll develop, it's silly to suggest he won't learn anything at all from the Garcia loss and from being with Hunter. Khan seems like the type of person who needs to experience disaster before realising something is wrong. An almost similar thing happened when he first switched to Roach. He gets knocked down repeatedy against Limond and Gomez, doesn't learn from them, and then has to walk into the Prescott beating before realising changes need to be made. Now, he was ignorant of the warning signs with Maidana and Peterson, and had to taste another brutal defeat this time from Garcia to knock some sense into him. He may be the type of fighter that learns more from his losses than he does from anything else.

Khan doesn't have the temperament to adhere to any changes Hunter will bring. His natural instincts when hurt or dropped is to jump right back up and fight back. It's the fight or flight instinct and his instincts tell him to fight and with his chin and style that's always going to be his undoing.

So it's going to be very, very difficult for Khan to change is subconscious responses to being hurt.

He first needs to work on not being hurt in the first place by boxing safe and not jumping or trying to throw 5 punch combos early on in a 12 round fight.

Khan needs to box and not get into a fight.

The problem was he wanted to be like pacquaio and fight in the pocket to long and him training with PACman didn't help the thing is PAC can fight like that v
Because of his chin and power, khan should of been himself and just box

    I agree..

Plus back then PAC had power and a decent chin too which you need if he going to stay in the pocket for that long.

Khan never had that type of power or chin for that type of fight, he was much better off sticking with his jab and trying to box to a win like with the wins over Kotelnik, Paulie and Zab plus Maidana for the most part.

Yes that's true. He's always been an aggressive fighter, always leads, never counters, always throws in bunches and never picking his spots.

He's such a talented but badly flawed fighter it's infuriating to watch him. There are so many fighters who don't have half his natural athleticism yet have mastered simple things that seem to completely elude him.

I agree, in a way Khan's handspeed is too fast for his own good, he tries to bypass timing and countering because of this, thats why good timers like Garcia timed him.

He got away with lesser fighters with that style but vs top comp its hindered him.

Thats why is needs to pace himself so he can read the fight better and pick his moments to attack and when to cover up or move away/turn/slip shots.

Virgil needs to let Khan fight like Khan, instead of forcing him to fight how he wants him to. Khan has looked like **** since he got with Hunter, and it should show that Hunter is over rated due to Ward being as good as he is.

Virgil's an over-rated trainer, every fighter not named, Ward, have looked poor under his tutelage. Also, Khan, needs to take advantage of people like Ward in his gym. Ask the guy to sit down with him and go through tapes.

Virgil tried to slow Khan down in the Diaz fight, which was the right thing to do, but it made him hesitant and he looked unsure at times.

    Is he really though?

Roach was doing a much better job with Khan imo.
