I don't know if Foreman would lose to Byrd or Ali to Haye, but Ali NEVER fought anyone with Haye's speed power and athleticism, and Foreman lost to the guy he couldnt continuously hit. So I see your way of thinking. And your BOLD opinion that Lewis is the GOAT.....well, I happen to share that opinion. And ppl rating Frazier(RIP)......well, I don't think Frazier would beat Wach. And he'd certainly be mauled by a guy like Peter. Just my opinion anyway.:think

Maybe all of that is true...we will never know. Are the playing fields exactly level though? Probably not. That's why I look at overall ability together with legacy...H2H is too much of a pie-in-the-sky subjective guessing game for me to seriously entertain it as a measure of 'greatness'.

And there's almost nothing he can do to cure his resume woes at this point in his career, unless some Heavyweight pops out of nowhere and starts destroying top contenders, and cleans out the entire division in dominant fashion and then in turn gets destroyed by Wlad. Even then, it's not enough to make up for all of the years & years of time wasted in his career getting KTFO by tomato cans and fighting the Monte Barret's, Charles Shufford's and Derrick Jefferson's of the world, as opposed to taking on the Lennox's, Holyfield's & Tyson's... all great fighters who he shared the top 10 with for several years, but yet, fought none of them. 99-04 is where his legacy SHOULD'VE been solidified. But he blew it, and choked continually against sub-standard fighters. And it cost him BIG from a legacy standpoint. His dominance and consistency was strangely absent when the division was abit stronger for some reason. :think Wlad just wasn't "dominant" when it counted. Wlad has no legacy. No resume. And No chin. Hold the phone. Frazier would be MAULED by Peter? Based on what? His power? Peter's best 2 KOs are an old Maskaev and, well, ****? Taurus Sykes? Jeremy Williams? His power is very over rated. His work rate? Come on. Frazier went hard at it for 15 rounds. Peter, not so much. Size? In shape, Peter is what, 6'3", 235 pounds? Big, but no monster. Boxing ability? Yeah, maybe the double punch Frazier doesn't have in his arsenal. Personally, I'm firmly in the modern day guys are bigger and stronger camp. However, this is a terrible assumption. If Eddie chambers can beat Peter, Frazier will at least avoid a mauling.
ok for one think about it... 99-04 Wlad was fairly young and inexprienced (he was fighting almost on a monthly basis but still at 99 he was 23 years old). no matter who you are, you will not dominate an era of tyson, lewis, holyfield at a young age... if you did then you wouldn't be top 5... you would be the best fighter to ever lived. if he is your top 25 (after meeting the parameters i've stated) then well frankly your deductive reasoning aren't there... take any fighter you ever liked and put them in Wlad's place and assume that they've accomplished as much as he has... are they still outside your top 25?

Um yeah, I didnt see those guys exactly lining up around the block to fight the big Ukrainian at that time, did you? Ross purrity was a good fighter, very tough, but yeah, that sucked. Corrie Sanders? Kudos to Wladimir for finally giving that guy a real shot. Corrie was capable of pulling the same thing off against Lewis, and certainty would have beat the **** out of 99-2004 Tyson. Yeah, those early losses hurt his legacy. But you know what? The heavyweight division is always weak, until after the fact. They all said heavyweight boxing was dead in the 60's when Ali was champ. Joe Louis had similar issues, with his "bum of the month club". You dont get to 3rd on the all time title defenses list without beint an ATG :deal
I have a hard time putting guys who were only champ for a very short period ahead of Wladimir. If you go with dominance in their era/resume, I have no problem with someone putting Joe Louis, Ali, Larry Holmes, Holyfield and maybe Lennox ahead of Wladimir, but thats about it in my opinion.
