He'd still be a one trick pony. Would pick up more wins against decent hitters but still not all that.

he would most likely have brain damage
froch can take a good shot but is more evasive than khan
khan would still get hit by massive shots because of his poor defence, just more regularly

    hope that helps you out

ye id say hed be tough to beat, not impossible, but if there was no danger of being ko'd with his speed he'd rack up some decent wins for sure but he wouldnt be unbeatable

Would be a much better fighter, obviously, I still doubt he'd be topping P4P lists though.

Would still need to work on defense, a LOT

No he wouldn't be p4p, his chin isn't the problem, it's his defence. Anybody who leaves the chin out all fight and does nothing defensively, regardless of how good a chin is, to many shots to the side of the head and chin isn't good, regardless of having an iron chin. Ricky Hatton had a decent chin, proved in the Magee fight, took one, got up, recovered. But time told us that taking those shots to the head every fight, isn't good. Ricky Hatton had zero defense and came in the same way every time, full gas, chin out.

Unfortunately, Amir's defence and "macho man, lets scrap because I've been hit, defensive mechanism" lets Amir Khan down. He needs to be Amir Calm sometimes, but he has never had that immense human dimension to take a step back in a fight, analyze, and switch. He only knows one way, just like Ricky Hatton. Amir Khan has all the tools to be successful, but he lacks the common sense to use them right.

His chin and ability to take a punch has improved significantly, people just assume thats the reason, but it's not, its the ability to protect that chin and not get cocky in a fight.

He has proven time and time again that he can take a stiff punch, just watch the Maidana fight.....this is coming from someone who doesn't really rate Khan, btw.

Danny Garcia caught him with a lucky neck punch he never saw coming, and then poor fight preparation prevented him from recovering quickly after the KD. Prescott caught him cold and cocky. Cockiness and getting ahead of yourself gets devastatingly punished in this brutal sport.

This isn't Mario Balotelli taking a penalty, this is taking punches to the head.

TBH he'd still get beaten, He'd probably stand and take 4 punches just to prove how good it is. Stupid stuff like that..

But obviously if he wasn't such a div he could do far better with a nice tough chen like Carl's mandible.

He'd still be where he's at now IMO, If he had the defense of one of the top guys, then the question could be asked.

I'm inclined to agree with this. Even with a good chin, the shots he took against Prescott and Garcia would have put him down and hurt him. People slate Khan's chin but the shots he has shipped have been pretty huge. His defence is **** - he starts trading and leaves himself open for a guy who has good placement and good power i.e. Prescott and Garcia. Both of those guys can really crack with left hooks; a punch I think can put anyone, regardless of punch resistance, on ***** street because of the mechanics of the punch.

Khan needs to work to his strengths; tight guard, maintain range, use that sharp jab, snappy right hands, speed, and in and out movement. Only use those blurring flurries when a guy is hurt or done. If he does this and learns how to either fight on the inside effectively or negate inside work (legally) by tying up and walking back then he has a decent chance of being remembered as a very good fighter. Not great I don't think. But very good.

He'd be in the top 3 most exciting fighters to watch in the world.

He's probably in the top 5 or 6 now.

He'd deff be beating fighters like Garcia thats for sure, but he's still come unstuck against a good counter puncher eg. Marquez to name one

If Carl Froch had Amir Khan's speed, would he have beaten Ward?
