He will be remembered as Ricky Hattons stalker, which is a shame because he was a good boxer for a while

Remember him as the guy Hatton ducked for a decade,as a good fighter with an awkward style but ultimately was a bit disappointing..

Yeah, while facing much better opposition, including the lineal LWW champion, a former LW terror, and two of the best fighters of the last 20 years.

Dont matter he still ducked him,the fight was talked about as far back as 1999,Hatton didnt fight tsyzu til 2005,it should have been made, the fans wanted it and so did everyone in boxing apart from Hattons camp, they didnt want it cause they knew if Hatton won he would probably be made to look bad and it wouldnt have made a big impact in America and there was a chance he could lose..

I remember Bunce saying that Hatton offered Witter near on a million to fight him and Witter turned it down because it wasn't enough?

At one stage Witter was WBC champ and ranked number 2 in the light welter division,Hatton had tons of excuses,Well he would have beaten his long time rival, and shut Witter up for once, could you imagine Ricky's hero Roberto Duran getting all the stick Witter gave Ricky and doing nothing,Duran would have fought him for free, the fight shoud have happened and you know it.

I'll always think of Betty and Scurla when Witter is mentioned.

Ah, so now you've run out of facts to argue with and have resorted to some sort of pride/respect agenda.

Witter wasn't a rival. He just wasn't. As others have said elsewhere, Hatton fought Magee who was seen as the more formidable opponent.

There was never really a time when Witter would have made sense. When they were both prospects,Hatton was demolishing his opposition and Witter was winning dull decisions.

Then Junior ran all night from Judah and basically put himself out of bounds for most TV producers. He had no fans, was seen as a bottler and wasn't undefeated anymore. So really, why would Hatton have cared what he said? Ricky was still undefeated, he was looking impressive.

There was no call from anyone other than Witter for the Hatton fight.

The point where there's some debate was when Hatton beat Tyszu and Witter won his belt against Corley a few months later. In theory, Hatton could have chosen to unfiy all the LWW belts, but there were bigger fights out there in the US - Collazo, Castillo, Mayweather (obviously) - that were much better, more proven fighters. Who cared what Witter had to say? Ricky's success was the perfect answer to anything Junior said.

Now, you could argue that, following the Mayweather loss, Hatton could have chosen Witter for his return bout, except that Witter needed to face his mandatory in Bradley or drop the belt. He lost the belt to Bradley.

And there endeth any hope of getting that fight.

There was no reason to shut Witter up, because he hadn't done anything that would have made Hatton need to.

So stop trying to argue that there was some moral argument for a Witter fight. He never did anything to make it worth Hatton's while.

He never fought Randall Bailey. The Hutchinson fight came after Witter's no-show with Judah. No TV network would have that fight.

I meant john bailey, how was there was never a time, how about when Ricky came off his loss to Mayweather and fought lazcano, witter was ranked higher and would have been a better fight, how about calling Hatton out for years, slagging ricky off, saying he would beat him easy, and if there was no argument for the fight happening why did boxing news do an article saying what im saying and for around 8 years every week fans wrote in saying the same thing,it was a fight that needed to be made and Hattons camp ran from it..

    Ricky was ranked number 1
    Witter was ranked number 2
    they had a huge rivalry
    they hated each other
It would have filled a stadium
    Fans wanted it
Yeah i guess there was no real reason for it to happen..
