It's a semi duck but in the whole scheme of things Geale and GGG can get it on mid 2013 for both belts. I wouldn't punish Geale so quickly after he fought and beat two Germans in their own backyards. Mundine fight is a big deal in Oz and will generate Geale 5x more then he could earn against GGG
I feel for Geale as his management approached both Martinez and Chavez for fight between either of them two guys and got turned down. Im Golovkin fan but I understand why Geale is not travelling to Europe for a 3rd time against Golovkin after just going there. So he took a fight were it was less risk for reward but were he would make more money.
HBO wanted Golovkin vs Geale in the US. Instead he chose the completely irrelevant Mundine and the even more irrelevant Soliman. I also doubt he'll make more money for his Mundine "Super Fight" than he would have for a Unification on HBO and it goes without saying that he would have become a worldwide name had to taken the HBO fight.
He will definitely make more money against Mundine, the only question is how much more. I see no reason to believe he'd sniff 7 figures fighting on HBO for the first time merely because it's a unification.
If he thought he could beat Geal the fight with Mundine would bring even more money with both titles. It's all about the bottom line at the end of the career.
If he fights Golovkin after Mundine, I can't call it a duck. Right now, it's just an egg. It could turn out to be a duck, but we don't know yet. If Gaele never tries to fight GGG again, this move would certainly be a duck.
It's a Aussie thing... If you beat a legend, you become a legend. If you beat a Polak, you become a Polak. (so he became a Polak after the Proksa fight) :deal It's a duck, but not a bad one. It's a shame for GGG though.
How would the WBA belt alone contribute that much more to a Geale-Mundine fight? Indeed, one could equally say making the Mundine fight sooner rather than later is more important since his name value isn't exactly at its peak at the moment and hasn't been for some time, though he's still clearly the most lucrative option available. I'm not going to criticize a guy for both trying to avenge his only loss and maximize his income after he went on the road to unify.
It has been reported that geale made $250k for his fight against sturm and he will make a estimated $2 million for his home fight with mundine and the australian dollar is higher tha the us were at most he probably make $500k at most fighting golovkin so theres the numbers.
Exactly. It looked competitive at times, but really, who looked like they were liking what was going on in there?
yeah mundine is useless and last weeks (last decade) news. Mundine was knocked out by Ottke ffs . this is in demand in the real boxing world like Haye vs Audley was. waste of a fight...
