Now don't get me wrong. I am not the greatest boxing historian ever. But jesus there are some idiots out there. I have have heard ATG's being mooted as over rated. WTF.

Most over rated fighter i have personally seen is jeff lacy. He had a big hype around him and got schooled by calzaghe.

Also. Unfortunately. Audley Harrison. I like him as a person. I think that he has proficient boxing skill. But he doesnt have a killer instinct and the gold medal put him in a league he didnt deserve to be in.

Pac and Floyd can be overrated in a sense that they get an extravagant amount of attention, almost as if they are bigger than Ali. When people say "overrated" it doesn't necessarily mean they think the fighter is inept or can't perform at world class level. I like Canelo and I think he's a good fighter but he's overrated because he gets so much attention for what he's accomplished so far which is solid but not elite caliber.

Iron Mike Tyson. Very good heavyweight, legit champion. Had a very short prime. Never KO'd a good super heavyweight. Never beat any of the other top fighters in his generation (Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, Moorer, Foreman) and never fought a lot of the other good ones (Mercer, Tua, Mccall, Morrison). His legacy is as a guy that made a lot of noise, brought a ton of excitement and attention to the sport, and had some spectacular KO's. Thats truly something to be proud of, but he isnt an all time great in my opinion, and is vastly over-rated by a lot of fans, IMO.

Ricky Hatton. He was decent but definitely not one of the P4P best like most of his fans thought he was. He beat a shot Tszyu in a foul-filled fight, beat Urango by clinching every 5 sec and was nearly stopped by Collazo. Definitely not worthy of all that hype.

Pacquaio's legacy is rooted in his career below Lightweight.

What has happened at the higher weights is just the icing on the cake. Arum has manouvered his money maker very carefully since the Diaz fight and has done one of the masterclasses in promoting a fighter of all time.

That one big Russian dude. He scared the **** out of every body, had one devastating performance against a former champ who had been retired for years, and then flopped in his only true test. What the **** was his name...

    Your having a laugh, surely.

He has the best win/loss record in boxing history, is the consensus best ever FW & possibly the best defensive boxer ever & is likely the best pure boxer of all time... even the footage we have of him after the plane crash shows what a fabulously gifted boxer he was.

Top 4 or 5 is exactly were Willie Pep should be ranked IMO.

    :good

  13. I won't say ever because it's easy to say with the benefit of hindsight but at the moment I'd say the most overrated fighter is Rigondeaux. Don't get me wrong, he is good but people saying that Donaire is ducking him like he is worthy of a fight of that magnitude based on his best victory being an SD over Ricardo Cordoba

Marcos Maidana is someone who is massively overrated too (perhaps not so much anymore though), and because Morales "hung with him" he became overrated because of it even though he is washed up.

Adrien Broner doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Mayweather either

I beg to differ, Although he was impressive in his fights with JMM, Barrera, and Morales he was still just reconized as a heavy banger, His so-called ATG and giant killer legacy didn't come into effect untill he moved up and to some people became the bum killer. I give him props on Cotto but not much. I don't see that as icing on the cake but rather as **** on the stick.:bbb

    :rofl

    Ray
    Armstrong
    Greb
    Ali
    Langford
    Charles

    The rest.

Making a ridiculous case for anyone than those fighters in a top 5 fighters EVER IS overrating them, criminally.

Jack Johnson is another. Top 15? C'mon.
