So the WBA rushes to immediately strip Geale, despite having just won it and Sturm having not fought Golovkin when he was mandatory for a longer time, only for the guy they give it to to then sign on and fight at super middleweight... Hmm...

The only thing that comes of this "story" is that the WBA looks worse.

this decision is great ... it was WBA who ordered a fight between two best deserving
opponents to settle the correct score ... one of them have chosen a way out and
a fight with lesser and easier opponent to cash out, he should blame only himself.
I hope they keep it this way and they will strip GGG as soon as he start ducking
his obligatories which are put in front of him.

    Dude...

You do realize Geale just went to Germany and unified titles on September 1st? It's barely been 2 months.

You guys act like Geale has been avoiding his mandatory for years, and like Golovkin is some stone cold proven killer. IT'S NOT DUCKING ONE PERSON WHEN YOU HAVE JUST FOUGHT/ARE INSTEAD FIGHTING SOMEONE BETTER. Get a grip, dumb Golovkin fanboys. Golovkin has one win which stacks up to Geales' top 5-6.

This is the lowdown on the Geale situation.

Geale went to Germany beat Sturm got paid around $250k US

WBA ordered him to fight Golovkin but Gary Shaw had already approached after the Sturm win Martinez and Chavez about a possible fight in Jan or Feb.

They both turned it down as there management were talking rematch.

So Geale wanted a Pay day and not to make another $250k in fighting Golovkin (Im a GGG Fan).
So they decided to match up with Mundine as it has been reported to Live Gate and PPV he will make just or around $2 million Australian (Which the Aussie dollar is higher than the US)

And as we know boxing sometimes you only get a few chances at big pay days even World Title Holders he took the Mundine fight.

So some here saying Geale ducked and this and that when Shaw went after Martinez and Chavez for Geale only to get knocked back.

There ****ed and KNOW **** ALL ABOUT BEHIND THE SCENES OF BOXING.

Also if anyone asks how he can make that amount of money when the USA is the Mecca of Boxing.

Well ask every other european fighter how much they make fighting at home compared to the USA.
Its simple crowds turn up to see these events and local channels offer better Money than being on a Undercard at the MGM and getting nothing from HBO or Showtime PPV wise and only taking a straight cheque.

This is all fair and accurate but it should also be noted that Geale twice turned down Martinez after winning the IBF belf from Sylvester. Not that I think such a decision was unjustified.

Yes this is correct but he wanted to hold the belt for a while to drum the fight up should be noted.

I can see your point and I feel for him as now he has travelled twice into the Lions Den (germany) and won which is not easy.

So him taking this payday I have No trouble with and even choosing Sturm over Martinez until he got a bit better against Elite fighters.

**** other fighters do this all the time and Sturm avoided anyone decent since Dela Hoya which was years ago.

Im feeling for Geale and GGG.

What should happen is this for 160.

    Martinez fights Golovkin
    Chavez fights Geale

    The winners fight each other

    ALL SORTED.

Geale still has the IBF title to work with, and it will get him fights until the inevitable Geale vs Golovkin face-off for the WBA title :good

that is right I simply does not feel bad for Golovkin being awarded
title since he is committing to fight whoever is coming in front of him.

its Geale's choice to cash out if that was opportunity, he should not be
though upset that they stripped him from the title since that was hes own choice. If he feel he is the rightful WBA champ he should not have problems in offering fight to Golovkin afterwards ... that should be expected from a true champ.

Geale was in the impossible position of having to face mandatory challengers for both titles. He says the IBF have treated him far better so chose that path. Geale has already stated he'll "be back for what is rightfully his" - that is the WBA title :good

What a mess. We have contenders -and that's what everyone except for Martinez is- going belt-shopping while dizzy dopes call him "a champion."

This whole thread came out of Bizarro world.

There is ONE champion in the MW division and Geale isn't it and neither is Golovkin. We can make pretend that they are "titlists" or "belt-holders" just like we can make pretend that the WBA and company aren't self-serving BS artists fleecing fighters and confusing the sport.

That garbage fighter has a win over Geale, and is a former world champ.

I cant wait til Golovkin actually has to fight a top 10 ranked fighter
