Is it just me or could he comfrtably make 140lbs if he had the discipline, looks fleshy at welter.

Oh you had to didn't you...

Been a lot of talk about this: his weight, body definition etc.

Many seem to think like you - that he could make 140. Fact is he has only made it once so far in his career.

Reading in between the lines here but maybe the pyschological impact cutting weight has on a fighter might have too much of an effect on FG. He has had personal problems and I think he's admitted his head hasn't been in the right place at times. Maybe his team just think it's better on the whole to be mentally and physically fit at 147.

I think a lot of fighters expend too much time and energy in cutting weight, many I'm sure would be a lot happier/more comfortable if they fought in a higher weight class.

What is the benefit of him trying to make 140 lbs? Think he's going to become a banger?

The benefit is he's sluggish at 147lbs. He was never sluggish as an amateur at a lighter weight, one of his main strengths ought to be his reflexes and speed at mid range.

Add in the fact he doesn't exactly look like he's in the best condition in the world (even taking into account he's not body beautiful regardless) questions should be asked about what exactly is going on.

not all boxers are defined, just cos your not ripped don't mean you are unfit.
my worry with frankie is his power,at top level he will struggle to keep them away from him with his pawing .
Then again i aint been hit off him.
Would actually love to spar with him(to the body,im far to good looking to ruin my face :) )
BUT,he is great technically, and needs to keep active now

Chavez one of the most conditioned fighters in history was hardly chiselled- Juan Diaz could probably have made Super Bantam

He is lazy and wouldn't have the willpower to do it.

Everyone knows of his rep for a party and shite food...

Either he goes down to 140 or grows into 147.

He's too small at the moment.

Dont see the problem with this never ending debate again here......

He's made 140 twice as a pro, he's fought at or around 147 12 times now, on 3 occasions he's gone 12 rounds. Never looked remotely in trouble in any of the 3 fights. Most agreed he looked a hell of a lot better on the weigh in this time too and he'd only dropped 1/2 a lb (146.5)

The fact remains he's staying at 147, could we quit with these threads now. Talk about his power, skill, movement, haircut or whatever else FFS.

    Agreed.

    It's getting beyond a joke.

If he looked like John McDermott then by all means lay into him for being a lazy bum and not arsed making weight.

I would have understood completely if he was gassing mid fight or unable to last the distances. But he isn't. He's looked pretty strong if anything in the latter stages of hs 12 rounders.

Personally I'm a fan of his ability I just feel he doesn't look big enough to survive with the top fighters at 147lbs would like to see him fighting at 140lbs but will be interesting to see how he goes, has lots of ability but can't see him cleaning up at welter.
