I think you're underrating Grachev a bit here. Froch > Bute has already been established, but Grachev is a pretty solid caliber opponent for Bute.

Think people are going over the top, if he had dispatched Grachev in a few rounds, people would have said Grachev was a bum anyway. Bute needed rounds and confidence, and the final round was a confident booster. I still think Froch has his number though.

He needs his confidence back, a Froch fight at this time would probably end his career.

i am truly stunned how stubborn and close minded some people can be on this forum

there was a hell of a lot of humble pie eaten the night after froch destroyed bute from a good 80% of the forum who spent years telling us how lucien was the greatest 168pd`er in the world, bit similar to how the germans used to hype up abraham, both guys had been wrapped in cotton wool domestically and were untested, BOTH got found out as soon as they entered the world stage

carl can fight lucien in nottingham
carl can fight him in montreal
carl can fight him in vegas
**** it if mars ever does become inhabitable for humans to exist carl will fight him there

the result will be the same every single time whether it be the 1st round or the 7th round

    CARL FROCH WINNER BY TKO

I got this recorded and am just going to watch it now.
I hope you guys are not right, as I liked Bute as a fighter and he is decent guy.

Bute looses the plot when he comes under fire and is backed up. his defence is so leaky and he is terrible when on the ropes, I also see signs of mental weakness.

Bute beat the crap out of solid opponents so far, Bika/Glen Johnson/Magee.

I too think bute before froch would have handled Grachev in style.

Sorry, how is a 12-0 fighter a 'solid caliber opponent' for a guy who until his last fight was 'the man' at 168 according to his fans?

He was a guy picked for Bute to pound on and regain some confidence with a convincing win. I am yet to see the fight, but by all accounts he failed to do even that.

Bute improved on nothing. Still open to a flush right hand. Still wastes time looking for the right shots. Grachev was poor, bad timing, no patience, didn't seem like he had a lot of power. Stevenson would absolutely blow through Bute and would be another repeat for Froch.

Well it is as bad as I thought, after just 7 rounds of watching it so far.

He looks like a fighter low on confidence, mentally scared from the Froch fight.

He will not sit down on his shots, looks hesitant to commit for fear of receiving something in return.

His opponent is seriously limited, and was made to look far better than he was.

Unless Bute can get over the mental scars of the Froch loss, that are still haunting him, his career is over. He is also 32 years old and not getting any younger, this could be the case of an unbeaten fighter who loses his first fight and then is never the same again.
