Virgil Hill should be in there. He was great!!! Guy was great except for losing to legends Thomas Hearns and Roy Jones Junior!!!!!

Jones never fought the level of Spinks or Foster. Those guys would have found his chin. I agree he was great.

Charles for me. I have Archie Moore at #2 and Ezzard has three victories over him, which makes it an easy choice for me.

Ezzard Charles because he has the best record vs the best comp around that weight.

I do have a suspicion that Gene Tunney or Charles would be the best H2H though, there`s not a lot of footage of Tunney though but just look at his record & what`s said about him as a boxer.

Not at LHW he isn`t, he never fought anybody close to someone like Charles, Tunney, Spinks, Foster etc at the weight.

SMW in a H2H sense yes, but not LHW, either greatness wise or H2H.

They never fought the level of him by that argument.

I always go back and forth between Moore and Charles. Below 175 I think RJJ is a beast but @ 175 Moore, Charles, Foster and Spinx give him all he can handle.

Rjj lost twice to tarver so he isn't unbeatable at lhw, none of the names in the poll would have trouble with that tarver, moore was older than jones and made the trip up from lhw to hw and back again with no adverse problems, he also started at mw like jones.

Archie moore, charles, tunney, spinks ALL fought better lhws than jones did, jones best win over hill isn't in the top 30 wins at lhw imo.

You asked who "the best" was. To be that indicates, who was the best fighter and Roy Jones was the best fighter to ever fight at 175.

Now if you want to ask, "who accomplished more" or "who has the best resume"

    Thats a different question

Why is jones the best ever, his chin was one gust of win in his direction from cracking, jones is lucky he didn't have to fight outside like the old school guys or else he would of had 50 losses.
