He's got a chin that would make any version of Jones proud.

next roy jones in a good way or bad way :huh

i just think he will be the one and only andre ward, you want see another roy jones jr for long time. up in comer ww brad solomon and he dont have it like that.

ward has the fundamentals and advance techniques down to the T so he will always be hard to beat. but he want move up to hw like roy, i think his career will be at 168 - 175 no higher.

  4. I agree- the next Bernard Hopkins is a far more shrew observation. Whether he can accomplish as much as Hopkins has in his legendary career remains to be seen, but he's clearly not short on ability.

I think when all is said and done he may even be able to surpass Roy resume wise. I used to dislike Ward (the Kessler fight left a bad taste in my mouth), but lately I've been really warming to him. He seems like a humble, honourable man... and the guy just knows how to win. Period.

In terms of accomplishments time will tell but Ward accomplished alot at such a young age, in terms of style they fight nothing alike Ward if anything fights more like Hopkins. I think he will be the first Ward similar to how LeBron is the first LeBron instead of Magic or MJ

Not even close but that being said Ward is already better in many ways than Roy ever was. Roy depended on warp speed and extreme in ring antics to wow crowds and ko opponents. Roy never had solid technique and unlike Winky Wright, once his speed and skills erroded he had no technique to fall back on. Ward on the other hand, is one of the more solid technicians and adaptable boxers on the planet. He is IMO, Sugar Ray Robinson solid in fact.

So, what I'm getting from this is that Ward DOES have the potential to be an ATG (In fact, one could argue that he's ALREADY an ATG), but he shouldn't worry about being the next Roy, and have his own legacy.

No way should Ward be considered an ATG by anyone yet. But you're right about the rest. He'll be the first Andre Ward.

Ward's chin is nothing to necessarily brag about for now so lets simply reassess the final comparison once Ward hits 34....
