Fair enough.

What has happened is that Froch has taken on the best, time after time, more often than not it's been away from home. Victories over Jean Pascal (who went on the be the #1 Light-Heavyweight in the world), Jermain Taylor (Former Undisputed Middleweight champ and P4P top 5), Arthur Abraham (long term Middleweight champion of the world, the most feared puncher in boxing who had retired his two previous opponents, only one previous defeat which was a DQ), Glen Johnson (very decent fighter, coming in off wins over Yusaf Mack and Allan Green. Has lost alot and normally loses to the elite, but is a decent enough guy to have on your resume) and Lucian Bute (unbeaten, fast, powerful southpaw with 10 world title fights behind him. The most feared man in the division and was supposed to KO Froch), aswell as razor-thin defeat away from home against Mikkel Kessler secure his legacy for me.

 

So you'd rate Jack 'Kid' Berg as one of the very best then?

 

I'd have to conceed that i haven't seen enough film of him to rank him accurately.

There was a thread some years back on the classic forum (I think, it may have been Boxrec,-can't recall exactly) on Conteh vs Virgil Hill. A depressingly large amount of ill informed plebs thought Hill would've won. I tried to make the point that when Conteh started to out jab Hill he wouldn't have a lot to fall back on.
Hill had a superb jab but Conteh's was a thing of beauty. Especially when he doubled up on it.

 

Now that I've watched the whole thing it's even more impressive, it truly is a one handed performance and he's pumping that left arm out like a piston constantly for 15 rounds, brilliant stuff.

The likes of Welsh (often underperformed to the level of his opponent) Winstone (best win is controversial cuts win over Seki, can only give credit for opposition so far, felt Saldivar got much the better of him whereas Rudkin did better against Harada and Rose) miss out.

Hard to pick. As I say, above is in no order but I'd be just about happy enough with the names listed.

 

And Lopez was no slouch!

Tbh my knowledge of pre fighters is **** poor. Don't know why I even bothered with a list. I'm just going by what others have said.

 

Boxing pre-1950's and boxing post-1950's seems very different to me so it's hard for me to compile a top 10 list. Fighters pre-1950's seemed a hell of a lot more active but then I guess they had to be as there was no big TV money or PPV back then, and they seemed to fight pretty much everyone worth fighting, sometimes several times.
