Why Do brits Seem To Dislike Andre Ward?

I simply don't like his dirty, boring style. And I am not even British.

If I am a British, that is a different story.

 

Brits have respect for Ward. It's the Kessler nuthuggers that talk reckless nowadays.

 

i respect him, but i then lose that respect for fighting a wolrd tournament in oakland and the only fighter not willing to travel

I don't think it's just Brits that dislike Ward.
Unfortunately, Ward has a big pair of boots to fill, following in the footsteps of Calzaghe and trying not to attract the same level of controversy. His contract for the Super 6 was favourable, in terms of fight location; he butted the life out of Kessler and clearly dodged Dirrell. So, he's in the spotlight and taking some flack, in the face of his achievements.
He is being rated on his Super 6 success but, quite frankly, most observers would still have a peak Calzaghe to beat him,, at the moment. He's going to receive a backlash because so much is expected from him.

 

A lot of us are threatened by his greatness.

its not just the hometown stuff, the headbutting, and ugly style, its because he has been given too much credit too soon by fanboys on here.

Ward has a good resume so far but its clear we are fighting in perhaps the worst 168 era of all-time, the only reason it has received such exposure and any significance is because of the super6 tournament and the fact that ward is an american.

People claiming ward to be the greatest 168 fighter of all time are really embarrassing the sport of boxing when there is so much left waiting to be written in wards career. for instance he could lose versus dirrell and then be ko'd in a rematch with froch in his next 2 fights, where would these delusional fanboys rank ward then? Its better if his fans just continue to enjoy the ride and make the bold claims when ward is nearing the end of his career when we can truely assess it without such blinkered ignorance.

For the record, i already have ward losing 2 fights, to both boone and bika, thats hardly something that the greatest supermid of all time would do.

 

Im a brit, I think hes a great fighter.

Bute was a prime, undefeated champion in his division and P4P#9 yet ye completely ducked him saying he had to 'prove himself' while going on to bring Dawson down in weight and eyeing a fight with a drunk.

Worse duck than Bradley ducking Khan.

 

Bute signd a two fight deal with Froch before Dawson called out Ward.
