the guy in your avatar deserves one. its a travesty that wards top pay is 900 grand, and thats after he went through a ssuper 6 tourney of his peers...and they pay a guy like mayweather 40 million to fight victor ortiz? yeah something is wrong here
Agreed...but he made 1.3 m against Dawson...thats no banana money...but I hear what you're saying brother.
If he can get down to 154 then **** yeah he deserves it. There really isn't a more deserving fighter.
When you're considered the best middleweight and you are top 3 or 5 on the P4P list in the eyes of most pundits, you deserve a big payday. Then you have to consider the skill level he's at when he's 37 yrs old. It takes a lot of work to maintain top shape when you're pushing 40. Also take notice of his display of heart in his last performance. These things are gold. Sergio deserves that big paycheck. If it was up to me Margarito sure as hell wouldn't get $6 million coming off his suspension. Sergio is far more deserving.
Ward could have had the big payday in Canada if he wanted it vs Bute- but unfortunately he ducked out :verysad
Sergio is an exciting fighter to watch and the champion of what has historically been a glory division. Everything lines up for him to be a highly paid fighter. His promoters did not do a great job building him up. He should have come to America sooner.
Against Floyd? I think he deserves it, no way Floyd is gonna fight him though. Martinez is a PPV attraction though, so its not a problem.
DiBella didn't sign him until 2007. He's done a good job IMO all things considered. There mere fact that middleweight has been historically popular does not mean simply being a champion there is sufficient for popularity and riches today, especially if you're not from one of the few ethnic groups for whom boxing is still popular.
If he's an attraction, let him fight someone else since he can generate numbers, Or at least unify some titles first.
That Chavez fight probably made him at least $5m, at least. He's been on PPV now and done good numbers, I'm sure he's near the top of the charts. But he's also getting older and that fight took something out of him I'm sure, so he'll probably be looking for ppv fights now, perhaps fight once a year for 2-3 fights and then retire.
Actually he's a natural LMW fighting at 160...if he fights Floyd at 154 like he says he would whats ur beef? Its a shame Floyd will never take this fight There are few people in boxing that deserve a payday more than Sergio Martinez. Haters gonna hate
