He's very good with the potential to be great. Doesn't need to match Ward's skills Froch is one of the grittiest most determined fighters out there today he's actually gotten better thru his losses his best might still be yet to come. This evolution of Froch might lead him to be a worthy opponent for Ward in the future, but it might be a different Froch Ward might be facing. Froch's speed, timing, power, and control of his fight of Bute when few gave him a chance only fueled him. I wouldn't look past this guy he's not done yet he has a legit chance to still be great especially if that beastly, focused version that outclassed and destroyed Bute comes out to play against any 168-175lber.

Froch's chin is overrated and his skill level is underrated massively imo.

Having 'great' will to win and facing tough opposition does not make a great, sorry. Ability wins fights, end of. Joe Bugner fought all the greats of his era and lost. Bruno, who is a hero, had a phenomenal heart but came up short against the best. The greats are those whp win.

carl froch is the man! true warrior. a very good boxer and a brilliant fighter. only ward beat him convincingly. froch was probably wards toughest fight tho, that just shows you how good ward is.

Great fighter. good boxer. No-one does what he does better but there are alot of better boxers about and although they are better technically they would not beat him.

How many title defenses though? 3 alphabet titles and a handful of defenses does not make a great.

He's great in terms of heart, chin, will to win and he's a very strong *******.
His general skill set is very good though: stamina, awkward, good puncher etc.
I'm a very big fan. He always comes to fight.

Carl is a very good fighter on the border of being a great fighter. I consider his path to greatness and it is littered with some of the stiffest PRIME competition. I cannot fault the man for not beating Ward. Ward is a special fighter. None the less Carl made a good account of himself.

I have seen Carl dominate or be competitive with more athletic guys tenaciously brawling. I have seen Carl outbox more physically dominant guys. I saw the man get through the Super 6, which is the hardest string of back to back competition I have seen in modern Boxing and come to fight each and every time.

I think the Cobra deserves credit for that and should be remembered for the very good to great fighter he is. If not for Ward? Froch would be the premier fighter of the era.
