Tyson made ten mil for fighting Golata with no belts on the line, the guy was a huge attraction. Mayweather's purses are higher, but I'm no expert of who earned what or inflation rates. I prefer to make technical observations.

I believe he was talking about Mayweather though, not Patterson. At least that's what it looks like to me.
It's pretty close in PPV numbers, but because of technology, not popularity, PPV is more accessible and widespread now, shows like 24/7 help promote fights too. Mayweather probably keeps a higher percent of his PPV revenues
