Yes, the main thing you need to know about his opponent is that it isn't Daud Yordan - meaning we are beyond the shadow of doubt not getting a repeat of 2011's featherweight FOTY (and Oriental FOTY...and top 3 FOTY period) in 2012. Don't get me wrong - I like Yordan vs. Choi quite a bit, and under ordinary circumstances wouldn't think Piriyapinyo was a horrible voluntary defense (he's WBA #7, so probably not a mando) - but damn it, we need another chapter in the Dragon vs. Stone saga. Anyway, Piriyapinyo is the plodder-and-plugger type that John used to outbox with relative ease and now can still outbrawl with somewhat less ease. While no namby-pamby, he isn't as strong as a Daud - nor as sharp and refined in offensive skill with the straight-ahead 1-2 attack while moving laterally as a Stas Merdov. He can mind his feet and cut the ring off fairly well, and does attempt to move his head while stalking, but he's very hittable - enough to perhaps get countered and ground down to a late stoppage if John is feeling plucky. Most likely, he'll lose very wide on points. If John has one of his stamina pitfall scares in the final quarter, it might get a little dramatic as Piriyapinyo comes hard all night - but I doubt it'll get all that serious.
