Well, my thoughts are that there's a difference between calling someone underdog to a fighter, and saying that they were incapable of defeating a fighter.

Q: Do you think W Klitschko has changed over time so that the Corrie Sanders who KO'd him would have been incapable of defeating WK as he currently stands?

 

I definitely do think that Corrie Sanders would be a 4-1 underdog. I agree he is a well-built fighting machine, that is too much to overcome for almost any heavyweight.

...but what if the "usual" isn't enough? What if he has to find a way to win, instead of doing what he has been taught? Can he improvise, can he overcome, does he have those intangibles?

Because against the best the division has ever seen, he's gonna need 'em.

Maybe he has improved mentally. It really is a shame that it seems like he isn't going to get the chance to show us up and prove it. There is no-one around to push him that far.

Maybe an inspired performance by Povetin, but I doubt it.

I agree with the premise, though. Fearsome champion. He brings new kind of intimidation -- what if you won't be able to display your boxing at all? What if there's nothing you can do in there but fight ineffectually, squirm like a hooked fish, die slowly?

The fact that a celebrated amateur like Povetkin is declining on a title-shot is proof of that very intimidation.

but I still say IT IS NOT A FAIR Equation - thes ARE S-HWs, Lewis included; and yes the odd regular size HW can do it "So What", the odd proper WW can beat a proper MW occasionally. SO WHAT!

It is still not a Fair or ACCURATE comparison, these guys are S-HWs and boxing history should not be marred by them.

They should be compared and debated among ALL the S-HWs (over 6'3, 225lbs +), in Boxing history first, Listed among S-HW's Top 100 say, paired off, discussed, debated, S-HW divisional legacy developes, and then see what Normal HW could or 'might' beat some of them or not.

Too poor on the inside (Bowe wouldn't just let him hold on) and lack of brilliant opposition hurts him.

I give Wlad credit for his rematch over Brewster, a powerful, but very limited Peter, and Haye, an athletically gifted, but also very limited fighter. Those 3 very decent, above avg fighters, but I don't see them higher or any better than a Mercer, McCall, Ruddock, or Golota in their primes. I do see Wlad among the best, tho.

 

Not incapable, but Wlad is the heavy favorite and I would clearly expect the current Wlad to defeat any version of Sanders.

How the **** is that laughable? Haye is not very good AT ALL.

 

Head to head, Wlad presents problems for pretty much anybody. His problems lie in his mentality.

Put him in with a guy like Foreman who wanted to destroy opponents immediately, and he can't hang. Lewis was known to come out strong. Wlad just doesn't engage early and his physical attributes allow him to ***** foot around.

Physically, Wlad is a beast. The only fighter on the planet I think would test him is Arreola, simply because he has the old school fighter's mentality.

Would all give Wlad hell, and I think Lewis sparks him clean out.

 

Tyson makes **** of him and to a very lesser degree maybe even a focused Gollota.
