You would have to consider Kostya one of the greats of the division..at least for the fact he stayed around and carved out his whole career there...140 is a little weak historically because it was either a stop over for some fighters or a weight for the tailend of their career But I don't consider him much of a H2H monster there..most of the more established greats would defeat him..as would a lot of the guys who either bypassed or only stay at 140 for a little while. Problem with Tszyu is that he was at his peak before he turned pro...and very gradually declined from then..At first it was technically because he found loading up and knocking out guys was easier..He was still young, and primish physically but as the Lopez and Phillips fights highlighted he had abandoned his skills to slug it out. Then when he went back to fighting smarter in his career renaissance of sorts, it was clear he was starting to slow down physically and of course the injury toll started to mount..A mediocre divvy let him get away with that for a while but it was always going to be a matter of time. Kostya doesn't go quietly against anyone though...He would give just about everyone around a run for their money until he tired...I can't really see anyone dispatching him easily or early..but there are a lot of guys I would pick to beat him and a ton of 50-50's aswell.
I can't believe people are not giving Tszyu a chance like he's a BUM. More disturbing they rate ****ing Cotto above Tszyu lol.Cotto ran against Clottey and Margarito.Tszyu is a monster and warrior.I'd give him a chance against anybody except floyd because he is a defensive genius. But if he gets complacent it could get interesting.Pacquiao makes a lot of mistakes. I can see a punchers chance if Tszyu and Poochiao fight with Poochiao crawling on the canvass because he is not a smart technical boxer and will probably run head first into a Kotsya BOMB. To be honest these guys are lucky the Russian isn't around when they moved in weight.
Tszyu had some real bad habits. He did not eatr anything on the fightday, He changed that after the Philips fight. At the same time he did not avoid Philips punches and had to pay for that. When you know KT ability to avoid punches and he did not use it because he was only thinking of delivering hard punches. Not very smart !!!!
Lay off the drugs if you think Gatti was a better fighter than Tsyzu. Gatti never would have beaten guys like Hurtado, Gonzalez, Ruelas, or Phillips. Watch KT against Forrest as am amateur and tell me he had a poor skillset. Yes KT did somewhat regress as a pro but he also learned from losing and realized he couldn't just rely on his power. KT was a much better fighter than you are giving him credit for. The Pacquaio fight is a tough one to predict. It would be a war. I'd lean towards Pacquaio by decision because his speed would be the difference IMO.
KT a very strong 140 lb fighter. If PAC can take KT's right, he wins. Otherwise, boomshacker. At least these two would have had the balls to fight each other.
It was a known fact that Gatti was protected from KT. Damn, a chin like Gatti and his lack of defense would have killed him against one of the hardest and most accurate puncher's at 140.
