Geoff McCreesh destroyed him quick as well, TBH his defence was reason he got sparked so sensationally although that biscuit tin was dodgy goods. I mean Thaxton is low and he's pawing at his head with two hands like a dinlow. Was never good defensively, but was a entertainer and always respect him for that. TBH he probably could of won a world title as they touted him, if he landed clean he'd of taken down one of the lesser champions. Edit: Didn't Scrap Iron do a few years inside?.
Afolabi hasn't stopped anyone like that before or since. There's no evidence to suggest that he's a massive puncher.
I think as soon as Audley steps through the ropes, when the bell rings, after about 5 seconds of nothingness he just gives in: "Oh for f*cks sake, I've had enough, I give up, let's get it over and done with big man, just hit me, come on hit me, come on, give me your best shot, hurry up and finish it! HIT MEEEEE!!!" This content is protected "NOT THAT F*CKING HARD YOU DIV!!!!"
I remember Scrap Iron, he KO'd Ross Hale in 1 to win the title, in his next fight a non-title fight he got KO'd in 1 by Thaxton and then he got KO'd in 1 by Holligan in his first defence.
In all seriousness ... Having an HUGE mother f***ing head for your body helps. I say this having a near 25" head myself. Chisora must have a 28" head. Basically the brain is protected by a gigantic skull. It takes a lot to put somone down with a massive head and broad shoulders. I think, essentially, punch resistance is genetic. Katsidis has an EPIC head too. Despite taking a MASSIVE volume of punches he has only been down once for an 8 count. And then won the fight,
He only got stopped three times, and it's not like he went down from half hearted shots. Michael Sprott was one of those that stopped him, but has been stopped 10 times himself, including by Audley. 10 stoppage losses in 36 fights would indicate a problem in the chin department, but somehow you target Audley instead. Not exactly an objective view...
Ryan was a excellent fighter domestically and was on the fringes of fighting sammy fuentas for the WBO title ... He might have won that too. But as we'll as holligan, thaxton and Mcreesh He was also decked by Shaun Cogan and Oscar palomino neither of whom where punchers of any renown. He could bang himself though.
