How on earth did Sugar come back to win round 12 against Basilio in one?

I think the beating Robinson took in eleven is a wee bit exaggerated, although Basilio is definitely getting through, and plenty. But I just can't believe the way Robinson came back in the 12th. That is crazy. The video above starts at the very end of the eleventh. That is five crazy minutes right there.

Love the story about Robinson brushing Basilio off five years before they met, and Basilio's promise to himself to "Get that son of a *****."

Can't be far away from having the best durability there ever was, either.

Basilio was a highly determined man. When speaking on his thoughts on going into the first fight with Robinson he said "He was taller, stronger, faster, and punched harder...but I was gonna kick his ass."

He was definitely highly motivated for both Robinson fights. When he was for his thoughts on Robinson years later, he said that he respected his ability as a fighter but called him a Son of a ***** and added that he was one of the most arrogant, unpleasant people he'd ever met.

As much Robinson is praised as a fighter, I've heard nothing good about him as a person from those who were around him. I know Gene Fullmer has a very strong dislike for Robinson aswell.

Like Ali, Robinson was one of those indomitable pricks.

Basilio would smoke some fighters today.

Robinson's punching mechanics were so explosive, crazy to think Basilio stood there and took all that without losing his focus.

    Unbelievable.

Robinson catches Basillio with a lefthook late in the 13th that was just like the one that caught Fullmer the year before. 4.13 of the video. Carmen never saw it coming and he was stunned but he stayed up. A normal guy wouldve been carried out.

I dont know where Robinson got that energy especially at the age of 37.

The video doesn't show much of round 12.

Awesome stuff though. Both guys looked tired but had great stamina and will. Rounds 11 - 15 were "the championship rounds".
