They were talking about a possible Lewis-Wlad match. You know why it didn't happen? Because Sanders knocked the **** out of your beloved hero.
And there are TWO champions around at this time, do not try to mis-interpret reality just so it fits your agenda.

Of course they won't fight. They are brothers, and it's absurd. When Lewis was around, there were 4 different people walked around calling themselves Champions and being announced as Champs before their fights. Everyone who holds a title calls themselves a champ and is announced as such. Once again... that's just silly logic.

Wlad holds the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO, and Ring Magazine Titles.... and Vitali holds the WBC title. It isn't rocket science. These belts are meaningless unless they are held by the true man in the division these days anyways. Wlad could hold zero titles and unless he is beat, he is the true Champ. The belt doesn't make the Champ, the Champ makes the belt.

The problem is all of the orgs, not the fighters. People put way too much stock into those titles. If people aren't smart enough to see who the real man is in a division, then their opinion isn't really worth anything anyways. All real boxing fans know that Wladimir is the true Heavyweight champ and that's all that matters.

Yeah, WLAD was talking about that fight... for over 2 years. HBO was talking about that fight... for over 2 years... Lewis on the other hand completely avoided the fight and speaking about the fight. He was asked straight up during an interview on HBO before by Larry Merchant... "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIGHT WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO", and Lewis just smiled and refused to answer.

Just as Lewis refused to fight Vitali. Vitali was his mandatory challenger for over a year and Lewis would back out of negotiations to the point that Vitali had to sue Lewis! At that point... Lewis agreed to fight Vitali at the end of the year and fight Kirk Johnson first. A fight that the WBC wouldn't even sanction... well, Johnson got hurt... Lewis was forced to fight Vitali as he was the only opponent that the Staples Center, and HBO would accept as a late replacement... and the rest is history.

I agree with what you're saying, but you're missing my point. They devalue the heavyweight championship by claiming each other as champion when we agree there can only be one true champ.

Wlad wasn't knocked out until 2003... only months before Lewis' final fight. How about the period of time for over 2 years BEFORE Wlad was knocked out, that he was Lewis' #1 contender by ring mag, was the WBO champ, had dominated Byrd, and was widely discussed as the biggest challenge out there for Lewis.

Does it make sense yet? If not, let me know... I can dumb it down even further and we can keep trying. I won't give up on you.

Having two guys calling themselves champion who will never fight each other cheapens the heavyweight championship. The heavyweight champion is supposed to be the toughest SOB on the planet! Vitali must retire!

Don't know about that, but having two guys talk about fighting themselves for years and never go through it cheapens the welterweight championship.

I agree, but this isn't about the welterweight division, is it? Why even change the subject to that, just make a thread about it.

Lennox fought in a great era, too bad he fought almost none of the great fighters of that time in their primes.

He is bitter because he did not do all he could have.
