I did notice that shot.... Wlad actually took it well and was parrying and slipping punches shortly after'. Good bit of defense, and he didnt even clinch.
That's pretty harsh. 4 or 5 out of ten performances wouldn't beat a decent contender, never mind win every round against them. What standard are you judging on with that? Whether you like him or not, Wlad is an elite level fighter who many (probably most) rank amongst the top 15 ATGs. Even posters highly critical of him have him in the top 25, and practically everyone would agree that consistency is one of the reasons he is ranked so highly. A consistent top 25 fighter (never mind top 15) wouldn't do 4/10 or 5/10 performances and walk away having won every round with barely any shots taken in reply. You might not like what you perceive as over the top praise from fans, but that doesn't mean you should abandon objectivity yourself
8 or 9 out of 10 .... KO was missing but im not really sure if that was eve possible. Short lapse in the 5th got him hit pretty hard too so. Outside of that a masterclass though.... was really surprised how much Wlad let his hands go. Much easier to watch.
8 Very good and dominant performance, more than enough for the task, but no body punching, not enough variety punching, a little too much clinching and holding.
Pat, pat, pat, pat, patty-pat, jab. Paw, paw, paw, paw, jab. Pat, pat, pat, paw, paw, paw, jab, paw, paw, Left-right, without any serious commitment. repeat 4-5 times over the course of 12 rounds, with lots more pwing in-between. Smile at the crowd & go home.
8. Wach was very limited but showed a great chin. Wlad was very active but can't score him higher coz of the lack of an uppercut and bodypunches. Good performance.
7. I give Wlad all the credit in the world for being a superior fighter, but he was a touch catious and he did dance around a bit too much for the 4 final rounds. Steward would have hated Wlad's performance from rounds 9-12 especially after he nearly had Wach out in the 8th. It really does not matter whether Wach's chin is great or not - when a fighter is not answering what so ever, you should be able to overwhelm him with your punches to the point where a ref steps in and stops it. Wlad failed to do this and that's because of his traumatic experiences in the past. Wlad is great but not invincible.
