Best jab is a good defence, but even Wach had his chances when he did manage to get past it. But yeah, just looking how fast he is for a guy his size, in his current prime a lucky punch is the only way anyone will ever beat him.

I think there's a modicum of truth to what you've written, but considering Haye was tipped by many to end Wlad's reign, and was completely dominated instead, I think it puts the above three fights in a slightly different context. Before the Haye fight, many people critical of Wlad's winning streak argued that it was only because he hadn't fought a fighter of comparable physical traits to a Corrie Sanders, that he was in fact the same fighter as he was back in 2003 when Sanders stopped him. The Haye fight showed that a fast aggressive power puncher now wasn't enough to beat Wlad anymore, that Wlad had in fact improved and learned from his mistakes. It doesn't completely erase his losses, of course, but like I said it puts them in a different context, a file that's now more or less closed and put away in the past.

Sure, his safety first style has maintained him. Wouldn't you say that's a useful adaptation?

Division's never been worse? Meh, I don't think it's great, but surely even in a substandard era, a fighter with "no chin" would have been knocked unconscious by Chris Byrd back in 2006, let alone Brewster, Rahman, Peter, Wach and of course Haye.

And the longer his reign and dominance goes the greater the lack of respect. Pretty shameful.

I disagree. I've definitely seen more people starting to come round who were previously pretty dismissive.

It's just that the disrespect seems to get concentrated on a smaller number of real hardcores to the level of active hatred.

I wouldn't worry too much about them, if I were you. When you get to that stage, the only people who'll listen to you are other like-minded individuals, and that number is getting smaller all the time.

I agree, on here it's the same idiots. But I was shocked at the disgraceful stuff on ESPN last night. It's surely time for Wlad to get his dues and not have morons like Bunce, Tiny Tim Maloney and Terrible Tim on his case after pounding a brave opponent. The bar seems to be set higher for Wlad in terms of respect than anyone else. I assume because he's a German based Ukrainian. And dragging up Sanders and Brewster at every turn. I rarely hear Carl Thompson's name when Haye fights. Strange that.

People can hate all they like, but once Wlad retires people will begin giving the respect he deserves. The same went for Larry Holmes

Wlad is a modern day legend, I didn't realise about this record, very good indeed.

Wladimir is never going to have a legendary career, but he's carved out a reign which is very respectable indeed and among the best in heavyweight history.

Hmm. You must have a different definition for "floored." Floored to me means (at an absolute minimum) getting officially knocked down. I don't recall any knockdowns last night, one way or the other.
