WLADIMIR: "I have a lot of respect for Mariusz Wach. I didn't know a man could take so much punishment, but he kept going. There was no shot that would take him out." This content is protected
defence and accuracy an impressive statistical achievement that has been outdone only by Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, and Larry Holmes. Make no mistake about it—Wladimir belongs in that class.
I actually find it kinda funny that they said Wlad let up on him in the 9th. After unloading 84 shots in the 8th he still threw 61 in the 9th. Over a whole fight hes starting to show numbers resembling his older brother, except he throws quite a bit harder. Wachs chin is insane.
Ya, it sure was last night. I wonder if it still will be . . . sometimes taking so many shots can soften the chin (look at Sam Peter).
The man should have every scan in the book done on him and be forced to a MINIMUM of 6 months rest. Some people like Chuvalo or Texx Cobb could just take helacious beatings and still be fine later in life. That said though i would take every precaution. Wlad is a massive puncher and he was unloading hard shots for a full 12, this just can not be good for him.
Wach got completely destroyed, Wlad won every round(including the 5th) that was a brutal beating. Can't believe a few people on here actually gave Wach a chance.
That's a sensible idea mate. I wanted Wach's corner to throw in the towel, on the other hand he DESERVED to see the final bell. A true Warrior, one of the best displays of Iron Chin I've seen since becoming a hardcore boxing fan (only a year and a bit but still.)

What people don't understand, because, again, most people don't know **** about boxing, is that Mariusz's defence is internal. He doesn't visibly move bob or weave or block. His game is far more complex than that. He sees the punch coming, doesn't take his concentration off its trajectory by turning his head and eyes away from the shot, and shifts his boney structure forward and his organs backward, and makes a bone shielding a fluid made of blood and lymph cushion structure that protects the organ from all impact. He has trained his physiology with special techniques created by Buddhists monks. He can do no harm while protecting himself. It's a very Zen Defence. Much respect.
