When Pacman gets lit-the-****-up by Clottey level fighters, it's not because he has heart. It's because he ****ing sucks at defense. The same goes for every other fighter whose as bad as Pac
Heart is simply the ability to fight back. Taking punches is only part of that. It shows more heart if a fighters is seriously outgunned by his opponent (power, speed, etc.).
The "Heart" part shows itself when the guy doesn't go down or quit after taking all those shots... or even gets back up when it looks like the fight should be over... keeps fighting back despite being in danger of subdural hematoma or internal bleeding. Check out the heart on display in this round by Arturo Gatti: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5mRv3xGY80[/ame] The story really isn't about lack of defense is it?
When he chose to throw, he landed. Roach/Pac fans went on about how it was Pac's "strategy" to get Clottey out of his shell :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
I think that every fighter willing to step into that ring has heart but it's the quality of the heart that separates them. Some fighters has heart that borders on stupidity, like getting the **** beat out of them with no chance of winning, then there are the ones who fight with broken hands and jaws and get up off the canvass to be victorious or give a good accounting of themselves. Now thats what I consider a quality heart.:bbb:bbb
Exactly. And people here can't understand because more are here just to talk **** and SOUND as if they know a thing or two.
Uh, no. This demonstrates a lack of understanding of what heart is about, similar to the OP. Heart is taking them when blocking is no longer an option (due to fatigue, an injury to your arms, or the opponent just having blinding comparative speed to you) and you're willing to endure to stay in the game and try your best to win. Needlessly getting bombed for the sake of doing so when you could easily be picking them off delineates stupidity, not heart.
I'm not saying it's a good thing to be punched in the face. What i'm saying is that it's harder to take a punch and keep on going then to block a punch and keep on going.
Yes it's more difficult, but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. You're obfuscating the issue. It isn't admirable to do things the wrong way, in a manner that will prove detrimental to you and make your goals more difficult, for no actual reason.
