The U.S. has always been a fluid state with multi-cultural roots. If Puerto Rico wants statehood, we should welcome them.

For those of you who didn't know: Puerto Ricans are American citizens, and as such, Puerto Ricans can vote in U.S. presidential elections. Puerto Ricans can vote for president provided they reside in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia and not in Puerto Rico itself. Residents of Puerto Rico pay U.S. federal taxes: import/export taxes, federal commodity taxes, social security taxes, etc. Most Puerto Rico residents do not pay federal income tax but do pay federal payroll taxes (Social Security and Medicare). However, federal employees, or those who do business with the federal government, Puerto Rico–based corporations that intend to send funds to the U.S. and others also pay federal income taxes. Puerto Ricans may enlist in the U.S. military. Puerto Ricans have fully participated in all U.S. wars since 1898.

Puerto Rico isn't technically a state but still a USA territory. Like Guam and other islands.

So yeah bitches, Cotto, Trinidad, WV, WV2, " Bazooka " Gomez, Wilfredo Benitez, are all ours!

Puerto Rican's living in the Continental US or Hawaii can vote for President but those on La Isla Bonita can not. Once they join the US it will definitely change politics in the US for the better. :good

I find it a bit strange calling them americans because they are part of the commonwealth...does that mean every gold medal in the olympics from australia, india, new zealand, canada etc counts as british/english?

And lets be honest....Hawaiians dont even see themselves as american. They see themselves as Hawaiin first, british second american 3rd....thats coming from high ranking hawaiins.

That means U.S hasn't done a good job at braiwashing the hawaiians through their media and school system in order to make them lose their sense of national identity completely, like they have done with PR and other countries they have invaded, it seems.
