Dan Rafael wrote that Fernando Guerrero could be possible but there are some future contract options that might be a hold up. He says HBO wants Golovkin to stay at 160 and three names brought up were Rubio who turned it down, Vera who HBO turned down, and now Guerrero which is being worked on.

The whole card that date is excellent with Salido-Garcia, Lopez-Vazquez, and Golovkin's fight. Sometimes HBO puts on some mismatches and weak showcase cards but this time, if it stays together and Golovkin lands a solid opponent , they have a very strong card.

I was just in Jab Gym in Chicago watching Molina hit the bag yesterday.... hes quite small even for Jr. Middle, although he looks to be in excellent shape. Gennady would crush him.

Could see the contract situation making the Guerrero fight impossible. It sounds like Arum already wants options to put Golovkin on the card, and as Rafael notes Haymon will want his hand in the pot as well.

What does Arum have to do with this?

It will be a Top Rank card.

Holy ****, I just read this!!

Golovkin vs. Guerrero sounds like some wholesome (and possibly brutal) entertainment.

I agree. I really like a possible Golovkin-Guerrero match and of all the possible opponents for Golovkin this is one of the best available. Not sure its going to get made since Haymon seems to want options but I'd love to see this fight come together.

Stylistically, it would be an aesthetic dream and it would be absolutely riddled with drama. Guerrero has the ability to rack up a points lead, but he'd be in constant peril of getting KTFO.

Think Guerrero gets taken the shed if that's the fight that comes off, likely as quickly as Golovkin's previous opponents.

    Only if he fights stupidly.

Most probably write Guerrero off pretty quick in this fight(if it does happen) but I think he makes it tough on Golovkin. I do think Golovkin would eventually get to Guerrero and stop him but its a nice fight.

    :good

I have to figure if shot-to-bits Ouma was able to hang around for ten rounds and pose some difficulty to GGG, there's no reason a prime Guerrero can't do the same. (provided he is very careful!)

It's possible he's improved and of course I'm willing to acknowledge that trying to make 154 was probably dumber than anything he could have done in the ring. It just seems a bit reckless to me to go for this particular style match-up after the fights he's been taking during his rebuilding process.
