Great analogy on the football build vs. basketball build. It is spot on. :good

If you are unfamiliar with American football, Mitchell played a position, middle linebacker, in which his size and build is rather typical, especially at the elite level. He wants to be able to get his shoulder level low and drive through an opponent who is most likely running towards him.

Banks has lot's of fat and not very thick bones, and Mitchell has lot's of muscle, not a a lot of fat and very thick bones.

Banks looked flabby as hell. He's a natural cruiserweight. Looked like more of a trainer than a fighter. Seth Mitchell comes in shape, unlike a lot of other heavyweights.

Muscle tissue is denser than fatty tissue. So, the same volume of muscle will weigh more than the same volume of fat.

You are dividing using the wrong method.

Even you can't be dumb enough to not grasp volume density.

    This.

Muscle may be heavier than fat, but bone is heavier than muscle. - and especially in black men in their 20's. Mitchell is not really very broad, so that weight MUST be primarily from dense bones.

    ----------------

Here's a thought: Since Mitchell is obviously "thick-boned," that probably means he also has an extra-thick skull. So, does that mean he is less prone to a KO?

If so, that could even-out his slight lack of defensive movement, and make him more of a serious contender than many of us think.

Agreed. However, we aren't debating that.

Take a shoe box. If you fill it up with iron it will be heavier than if you fill it up with cotton, right?

The same thing would happen if you filled the box with muscle tissue instead of fat. Muscle is more dense.

Just a theory with no scientific basis and with mitchell coming from a football background, seth never had to "make weight" in his entire athletic career. He never had to burn an ounce of muscle unlike these other guys who have moved up from their teen yrs to adult. Maybe thats helped him pack dense muscle on his frame

Apart from all the points made which i agree with, images on TV are deceptive, face to face Seth is stacked and looks every bit of 242lbs.
