I'm not sure I agree with that last part. I'd suggest that his behaving like a cretin is what brings the hate much more than his colour. That said, I think he is probably correct about becoming a cash cow, he has the backing of a big promoter, talent, and for whatever reason, people are more likely to pay to watch an loud obnoxious champion than a quiet humble champion such as Andre Ward.
I like Broner for being brash, I dislike him for being such a Mayweather wannabe. I also don't think he has the ability to back up his word like Mayweather has. At some point, he's gonna get caught up and possibly knocked out.
