They would look really well. Golota already got KOed by Brewster and Austin in 1, had a draw with Byrd and lost to Ruiz. 90s Ruddock was not that good and Bruno had a real glass jaw. Ibragimov easily outboxed Briggs and old Holyfield. Mccline also beat Briggs, who was a lineal champ in 90s. Actually, 90s HWs looked awful against 2000s HWs even if they were not that old at the time of the fight. The new crop is even better, Price, Pulev, Mitchell, Fury, Povetkin, Adamek, Helenius, Haye, Arreola, Mitchell, Glazkov, Jennings etc.. Lot's of these guys are over 6 foot 5 and 240 pounds and move really well for their size.
I personally think both the Klitschko's are great fighters. But I DO think that this is a very, very weak era. European, American, or otherwise - The past 5 years has had a full collection of bums. From 7 foot freaks, to overblown cruiserweights. Even from a technical standpoint, a lot of the fighters have been down-right mediocre. People often justify Mormeck's title shot, saying 'who else was there?' - But then turn around and disagree with this era being so weak. I said it before, and I'll say it again. It is the NEXT crop of Heavyweights, that will truly determine Wlad's standing. Fighting Fury, Price, Pulev, and a handful of others. It's not Wlad's fault that the contenders are so **** - But it IS his fault that he is offering pitiful contract offers, and then wondering why people don't want to fight. How he performs against that crop, is the only way to truly determine his standing. Not fighting the likes of Wach, Mormeck, or even Haye (who I rate highly).
Wlad cannot fight all the next crop of HWs. He's going to be 40 by the time they are ready to fight him. Wlad is 36, and Lewis was "ancient" when he fought Vitaly at age of 37, according to half of ESB, eh? Not to mention, even if he defeats all the next crop, they are going to be called bums by posters here.
Wlad didn't have as much mileage as Lewis at 37 I'm pretty sure he can take out some of the young guns in the next 3 years.
Don't be ridiculous. Nobody is saying he needs to clean out the ENTIRE next set of contenders. We're talking about people like Price, and Fury, and even Wilder (if he steps it up in time). Of course, some people will dismiss those guys as bums. Those guys will dismiss everyone as bums. History on the other hand, will not. But as of 2013 - early 2014, Wlad needs to only fight the BEST available. If that means paying more money, then so be it. But he needs to fight the best while he still can, and as they're available. That will prove, or dismiss his all-time standing. Precisely. It may be 5 hard fights in a row, but this is the only way for Wlad to prove his legacy, and shut up the detractors like myself.
He has good defense so he didn't take a lot of punches, but it's still hard to fight that many fights at top level.
That's exactly my point. Wlad hasen't taken many punches, and is pretty much always in shape. That's why he'll be able to fight as long as Vitali did, and still stay in his prime. It was only over the last fight or two, that we started seeing Vitali slipping. I suspect Wlad will have the physical capability to carry on fighting until at least early 2015. It is more about how hard your fights are, as opposed to how long you have been fighting. There are some fighters who are never the same after a War or two, in the ring.
People still age even if they don't take ANY punches. Even big guy like Wlad would probably start declining fast when he's 40.
Exactly, hence my point, that he will be able to carry on until early 2015. He'll still be a couple of years away from 40 at that point.
it also depends on his genetics. He might get old and just retire. Vitaly got old overnight pretty much.
